We stood in a tight circle around it, vaguely stunned... By golly, this tiny little tube can make some cool bumping sounds! Upon first glance, the small travel-friendly size and affordable price of this Apple iPod / iPhone player dock would normally deliver something more like the clucking of far-away Montana barn chickens. But nope, our tiny The Pipe from Skullcandy does a respectable job of playing your iPod and iPhone tunes at a rock-bottom price with elan and aplomb. Place The Pipe on a table against the wall, or better yet, in a corner, and you'll likely be impressed with how much music you'll actually get, and how dang decent the sound quality is. Of course, it won't bring the walls down with sheer volume, but you can't beat The Pipe for an ideal combination of iPod dock convenience & performance that easily hides away inside your desk drawer or airline carry-on bag.
The Skullcandy The Pipe runs on four (4) AAA batteries [not included] for about 8 hours, and puts out a claimed 5 watts. It's very simple to operate having only an on/off switch and volume controls on the main tube unit. The remote control is way sweet and is completely fully featured, even allowing for advanced menu control on the iPod / iPhone, a feature that is not commonly found in many affordable iPod docks. Apple iPhone remote functions are limited to normal playback controls. Handy AC plug-in power supply is included for use at home, office, dorm or hotel room.
