Aaah, now don't that really make you feel a whole lot better!
Features
The Max amplifier utilizes the largest electronics module circuit board we have ever produced. This gold and black Max module sports beaucoup dozens of tiny chips costing over $15 bucks a piece(!), 0.1% metal film resistors, and polyphenylenesulfide film capacitors that are silver-soldered to 2-ounce gold-coated copper tracings arrayed over a thick black-solder masked, 4-layer circuit board. This jumbo-sized 'Max' module circuit board must always be mounted on edge for better heat dissipation. Everything in the Max topology is deep into "Class-A" bias configuration. It uses four discrete solid-state Walt Jung-inspired Diamond Buffers as ouput amplifiers, and eight single-package Burr-Brown OPA627 (four per board) in all other acive stages -- which are amongst the most musical, articulate, and definitely most expensive op-amps available on the market. The superbly regulated high-current power supply within the Max Amp is a dual-mono topology, so each channel has its own accurate and lightning-quick power supply. The sound is impossibly transparent and elegantly refined but still retains a lively organic warmth, supremely accurate detail resolution, and a blistering musical punch we believe to be unmatched in the high-end headphone amplifier world. The subtle nuances of the music will become a living, breathing performance in your head....Pure bliss indeed!
Beyond the highly-useful optional DAC inputs (see ‘Options’ below), the rear faceplate also sports two sets of RCA analog inputs along with a single pair of analog RCA outputs, as well as power on/off and AC ground-lift switches. The front faceplate remains clean and sleek with a only a minimum of distractions: two parallel 1/4" headphone outputs and independent switches for gain, HeadRoom crossfeed, and brightness settings plus a rear-output defeat switch for when listening solely to headphones (instead of self-powered desktop/computer speakers).
Options
The sole available option for the HeadRoom Max Amp is the upsampling 'Max' DAC option which adds significant digital-source input flexibility, allowing the user to connect three incoming digital audio sources to the Max Amp via discrete USB, optical, or co-axial inputs on the rear of the amp.
Accessories
The Max Amp does NOT include any interconnect cabling. If you have the selected the available DAC option, lucky you, since a USB cable will allow you to digitally hook up the HeadRoom Max Amp to any computer for devastatingly beautiful headphone sound from your laptop or PC. If using the excellent optical input on the DAC, you will need an Optical Digital Cable, and if you are using digital-coaxial inputs then take a look at this quality audio coaxial cable. To hook up your Max to a portable audio player with an 1/8” (3.5mm) connection, you will need an RCA to 1/8 cable. If you are using an audio source with RCA-type outputs, you will need an RCA cable. If we still didn’t mention the cables/accessories you’re looking for, please take a quick gander at all of our in-stock audio interconnect cables.
Also, if you’ve made the concerted effort to travel this far up the gleaming path to audiophile headphone Oz, then it’s probably important to consider some upgraded headphone cable options to further improve the sound quality of your high-end headphones. However, keep in mind that not all headphones can be successfully upgraded with upscale aftermarket cords.
