AKG has a winner with this update on their popular K-26p portable headphone. Getting big, impactful bass response in a headphone this small & well-priced remains a mighty stride in the world of portable-application cans. Although improved slightly over the discontinued 26p model, the K-414P's treble response is probably still a tad rolled-off in the uppermost highs for the demanding listener. Nevertheless, the overall musical detail resolution remains quite clear & punchy for a headphone at this friendly pricepoint. While the k-414's upper mid-ranges are perhaps a bit recessed in their overall timbral presentation, the bass response offers amazingly strong and full-sounding bottom-end texture for such a tiny 'on-the-go' headphone. The AKG K-414P's seal from external ambient noise is also quite good --you'll likely have a hard time hearing the telephone ring right in front you even when listening at moderate volumes. These would be a good choice for commuters & travelers seeking some degree of isolation and good sound in an inexpensive, small-sized headphone. The K-414P is also a great headphone candidate for active listeners, outdoorsy types, gym junkies, and college dorm residents/students wanting bumpin' sound directly from their Mp3 or other portable player device without requiring the use of a dedicated outboard headphone amp -- although employing any head-amp will always help improve the overall sound quality! So not only are the AKG 414's one of the better small-sized classic or modern-rock, jazz-funk, and hip-hop headphones, but they're also one of the choicest 'bang-for-the-buck' offerings within the portable earpad sealed-headphone category.

The K-414P is a lightweight and very efficient [low impedance] portable-use headphone with a cool "3D-axis" sliding metal headband for sizing adjustments. The small but newly plushly-padded earpieces spin around & fold inward toward the headband so you can listen with one ear if needing to keep your head on swivel mode. The K-414's earpads are round pleather-covered donut-types -- nice fit and quite comfortable for such a small supra-aural design. This 'earpad' supra-aural headphone folds up into a tidy little lump that can be tucked into a zippered pouch that's included in the AKG K-414P packaging. It has a "Y" headphone cord, about 5ft long, terminated in an right-angled 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-plug. Excellent 2-year manufacturer's product warranty remains standard on all AKG headphones.
