Here's another troubling headphone category. And much like the 'clip-on' and 'earbud' category, there really isn't too much worthy of serious listening. However, we do have one or two decent suggestions for undemanding audio applications or for folks interested in getting by on the cheap.
Wearing comfort can be a huge deal with this category so while the Sennheiser PMX-100/PMX-200 design is perhaps not particularly ergonomically suited for big-head types, we did compare it to the Koss Porta Pro and Koss Sporta Pro models which have the ability to convert from headband to neckband/street style with a quick flip of the earpieces. We found the Koss likely sound slightly better than the PMX-series Sennheisers. However, also keep in mind the PMX models usually remain more comfortable to wear for any length of time versus the design of the typically good-sounding Koss models -- as well as versus the 'clip-on' approach of the Koss KSC 75 model. Perhaps the best-sounding headphones within the entire 'neckband' category, Grado Lab's i-Grado cans are solid performers in this somewhat difficult, specialized category of headphones.
