AKG Hearo 999 Audiosphere II

With all of their massive R&D might, Austria's audio powerhouse AKG has built this system as their high-end all-singing/all-dancing personal home theater listening system. The AKG Hearo 999 Audiosphere II is the world's first digital UHF wireless surround sound listening system featuring Dolby Digital and Pro Logic plus accurate room simulations for stereo programs. Though a bit complex to set up, this headphone virtual acoustics processor gets an A+ on building a beautifully stable and dimensionally immersive listening experience. The system also gets high marks on wireless reception quality, versatility, and overall cosmetics. But the system seems a bit bass-shy overall and we couldn’t really hear the sub-woofer channel at all during most films. However, when it comes to the high-end of wireless headphones, this is likely it... Man, it was simply one great weekend of watching movies in bed and listening while cookin’ out in the kitchen as we enjoyed excellent wireless sound & superb transmission reception!

The packaging and ergonomics on this system are top-notch. The Hearo 999 Audiosphere II arrives inside a sexy hard-sided aluminimum valise suitcase with precisely cut foam inside to meticulously organize all the various bits & pieces within the system. The central processing/transmitter unit is small considering the array of controls it offers: on-off; headphone output with level control; input select (both analog and digital, both optical Toslink and digital co-ax); plus four additional controls to adjust various surround & virtualizing functions. The headphones are quite gorgeous and come with a spare pair of cushy velour earpads if you don’t like the leather ones supplied on the cans. Extra headphones for the AudioSphere II system are available for family & friends and are sold separately. The AC-power adapter for the system and also the headphones themselves snuggled real securely within the travel/storage case...Way slick!
