The MusicBox's dock connects to a reference-caliber DAC, which feeds to a tube-based preamp section and 20 watt-per-channel MOSFET power amp. Plug in your iPod Touch or stream music content from Internet radio stations with significantly improved sound quality. A simple USB cable allows streaming any music files directly from your computer into the MusicBox with audibly better audio results. The Peachtree MusicBOX includes a solid headphone stage for when rocking out loud might not be possible -- like in your office or workplace cubicle. With your iPod in the MusicBox's true digital i-dock, your player can sound like a great CD component source; when you add in a smooth-sounding DAC, vacuum tube preamplifier circuitry and the MOSFET power amp design, you have a recipe for great audio magic. You can also plug in your iPod Touch for easy access to any of your music OR video content. Just connect the MusicBox’s high-resolution component video-out to your big-screen and enjoy your faves in full wide-screen drama. The ability of the MusicBox’s internal D-A converter to process and play all your favorite digital sources makes the Peachtree MusicBox a cool 'must hear' device in our HeadRoom opinion.

The Peachtree MusicBox automatically mutes its room speaker outputs when you plug in your headphones. But you're still getting the full benefit of the MusicBox’s killer tube preamplifier section as the warm tube glowing behind the unit's front panel window confims.

Pros: Versatility, Good Value, Great One Stop Shop
Cons: Remote needs to be in the line of sight of MusicBOX

In the pursuit to get every drop of sonic gold from my Grado 225s, I upgraded my amp/dac combo from the Total Bithead to the MusicBox. I wanted to delve into the tube sound that everyone always raves about, but I was at a quandary: I needed a good DAC, something to extract digital signal from my iPod and iPad (I was using the camera kit with my Total Bithead), and get tube amplification. All without breaking the bank.

Lo and behold, I came across the MusicBox which met all those requirements and then some!

The sound is phenomenal! The tube enhances everything: it sweetens vocals, adds some bass (I can hear the growl of the bass guitars), and Tom Tom drums are fuller. The soundstage is bigger than before and I can hear even more detail than ever ( why won't the people ever shut up during Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry"?)

The combination of direct digital feed from the iPod, DAC, and tube make even crappy 128 kbps files sound better, so I can listen to my entire library without the regrets of re-ripping files to a higher bit rate.

The MusicBox can also do a decent job as a desktop stereo. If I want to be less selfish, I hook up some home recording studio monitors, so others can play too.

So if you're looking to take the next step in upgrading the sound for your cans, the MusicBox is a great one stop shop and value.
