Applications:
In a category full of high style, it's great to see the Beyerdynamic DJX-1 penetrating the world of professional DJ and club headphones. Sonically substantive in every way while not skimping on contemporary cosmetics, the DJX-1 surpasses the clarity and acoustic performance of much more well-known DJ headphones and, in fact, are amongst the top-sounding DJ-type cans we've heard to date. Brawny bass response with increased low-end heft versus most other Beyerdynamic headphones leads the DJX-1's timbral charge, but its that renown Beyer gliding treble extension up to 25,000kHz that brings musical focus and precise definition throughout the critical midrange and high frequencies for seamless segues and perfect source-to-source transitions. Another important feature for serious DJ work is the DJX-1's mono/stereo switch which is typically found only on pricier headphones. The control means that you can hear your mix in one ear while having the other earcup off your head, so you can hear the room mix coming through the master channel or club speakers. Many DJ headphones don't offer this big plus but if you want to mix like a true pro in varied club settings, it's a real must. The outstanding overall sound quality performance makes the DJX-1 a killer choice for accurate personal listening, mobile or portable-use applications, as well as any demanding pro audio task looming on your busy schedule.
The downtown-approved aluminum-on-black looks of the Beyerdynamic DJX-1 will fit right in at the hottest club in town or while just cruising non-chalantly across campus. The DJX-1 are a full-size circumaural ['around the ear'] earcup construction which mightily assists in exterminating loud ambient club noise. This means you won't be forced to crank the volume from your decks simply to hear the music clearly in your cans -- a very nice thing to do for your long-term hearing safety. The full-size ear cushions also help provide excellent wearing comfort for the long haul and are made of a strong but soft leather-type material, so you won't be constantly replacing the earpads like with some other famous DJ headphones. The DJX-1 swiveling design appears extremely well-engineered and offers full earcup folding and headband flex capabilities which help not only with wearing comfort, but also with long-term durability for many years to come. Superb 2-year manufacturer's product warranty remains in place only with your HeadRoom '100% authorized dealer' purchase receipt.

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Sturdy and solid but light; authoritative bass
Cons: Slightly hard on the head
In counterpoint to the emphasized bass, the mids are not recessed, and there is plenty of high-end detail, although not what I would call "sparkle." Where they really stand out is in their imaging -- very sophisticated -- and quickness. They are striking, because the kind of response they give in the higher frequencies and the detail they provide is unusual in my experience for a bass-leaning headphone. These deserve all the credit given to them by HeadRoom staff, and should definitely be spoken of more often for people seeking headphones in the DJ/portable category.
