Beyerdynamic DT 660
Like it’s upscale big brother (the DT860) the open-earcup beyerdynamic DT660 model is a forward-presentation, lively-sounding, and highly efficient pair of full-sized headphones that work easily directly from most portable players like iPods and iPhones without the need for a dedicated outboard (mobile) amplifier. For listeners seeking a crystalline clarity in the treble ranges, the DT660 will likely do the trick. Unlike the topmost-echelon cans, however, the DT660 is a little too uneven and sharp in the uppermost highs for us to feel confident with a no-holds-barred 'buy' recommendation. We suggest going up to the DT860 if you are looking for a more refined overall soundscape, or down to the DT440 if your looking for a good full-sized, well-priced headphone for use with portable audio players or laptops and PCs.
The DT660 is a large pair of circumaural earpad headphones with a perfectly round earcup that is covered with a cozy velour fabric material. The headphone cable is attached to the left earcup and is terminated with a 1/8 inch [3.5mm] mini-plug; a screw-on ¼ inch full-size plug adaptor is also provided in the Beyer package. The earcups swivel to allow the headphones to lay flat or fold up into the headband, handy for conserving space when packing and while in transit. A 2-year manufacturer's product warranty remains standard with all beyerdynamic headphones.
