The Beyerdynamic DT 770 headphone has been around in one form or another for eons. It's a sturdy, well-built sealed-back headphone that delivers terrifically textured bass response and cleanly delineated musical detail impressive for a sealed design. This updated 600 Ohm model sports superb high-impedance drivers expressly engineered for audiophile listeners employing quality headphone amps in their arsenal. The extra-high impedance makes this model tough to power to its utmost clarity and sonic 'openness' directly from most audio sources but -- once properly powered via a good head-amp -- the stiff impedance presents an extremely quiet background noise floor -- a giant plus for reference listening to solo piano or acoustic guitar pieces, for example. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 - 600 Ohms also offers reasonably transparent timbral textures and crisp sonic extension on the treble ranges. The slightly recessed midrange of early DT 770 editions has been made more nicely present and is now better-detailed and vividly defined. The overall soundstage presentation is expansive and deep although perhaps not quite as spacious as with some master-level (read: very expensive) open-back cans Some leisurely 'burn-in' time [200~300hrs+] should help relax and sweetly round-off the DT770's slightly forward uppermost treble ranges heard when brand-new out of their box.
The Beyerdynamic DT 770 - 600 Ohm headphone has grey/silver-colored rounded earcups padded with a durable velour material and provides a loose comfortable fit around the ears; it's easy to wear and light-feeling for a large full-size sealed headphone. The headband design minimizes undue clamping force and is also covered by a cushy padding that is pleasantly soft. The headband mechanism is designed with durable metal alloy supports into the earcups, and a (non-detachable) straight cable exits from the left side. The 9-foot long cord is terminated to a threaded 1/8" (3.5mm) 'mini' plug; a full-size 1/4" inch gold-plated adapter plug is included. As a plus, a leather soft-sided, foam-padded storage/travel bag is provided with all DT 770 models. The free 2-year manufacturer's product warranty remains standard with Beyerdynamic headphones when proof-purchased from true 'Beyerdynamic-authorized' vendors -- like HeadRoom!

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Comfortable. Accurate, detailed sound.
Comfort: They truly are as big and cushy as they look. They feel very well constructed. Minor gripe is the cord is thinner and stiffer than expected.
Sound: These are for critical listening, people who want subtlety and accuracy. If you want your headphones to crush the music with extra bass then look elsewhere. If you want to hear things you've never heard before then these are for you. Listening for hours to me is about the sound as much as the comfort and that means avoiding listening fatigue through high quality reproduction.
Amp: As expected, these 600 ohm phones need an amp. Plugged directly into my Mac Pro I can crank the volume and get some output, but to really feel it I use an Audio-GD NFB-12.
Hi-fi: These headphones will make flaws in the music obvious. Low quality files will sound low quality. The upside is that you can get the full value from high quality lossless rips + a good DAC.
Sound isolation: These are not active noise cancelling headphones, but when music is playing at a reasonable volume I can't hear any office or home noises, even someone watching TV right beside me. The people around me say that they can't hear my music at all.
Summary: for what I need the DT 770 - 600 ohm is perfect.
Store: My HeadRoom order arrived in Canada in 3 days. There was a small, expected customs fee, but overall a very nice purchasing experience.
