Frequency Response for the DENON AH-C452k

Searching for fantastic in ear headphones significantly under $100 bucks is no simple venture but leave it to HeadRoom to find the best-sounding headphone bargains out there. The DENON AH-C452k are excellent AND really well-priced upgraded earbuds from one of Japan's respected audio powerhouses. This newest entry into the well-engineered DENON in-ear model line is easily capable of delivering a veritable 'night & day' sound quality improvement versus stock MP3 player earphones found with your iPod, iPhone, laptop computer, or portable player. The C452k offer a comfortable 'hybrid' ergonomic design with an array of variously-sized eartips for a personalized fit, without the invasive, deep ear canal insertion requirements of normal in-ear monitor designs. The AH-C452's strong, clean but well-balanced bass response supports silky-smooth, neatly detailed mids/highs that sound sizeably more accurate and rich versus any 'entry-level' or stock-issue earphones. Extremely easy-wearing, inconspicuous in-ear fit, impressive bang-for-the-buck musical performance and wallet-friendly pricing make the DENON AH-C452k one of the better candidates in the popular hybrid earphone /in-ear monitor [ECH] category and one of our biggest sellers!

The DENON AH-C452k earphones rate at 16 ohms impedance / 105dB sensitivity ensuring perfect partnering with just about any audio source without a headphone amp required. Their build quality is excellent and appears much sturdier than most other earphones anywhere near this pricepoint. The C452's 'Y'-type cord extends about 2 feet from the earphones and an included detachable extension cord goes for about another 2.5ft if needed. Accessories include pairs of Sm/Med/Lg eartip sleeves to get that comfy fit and solid ambient noise-blocking seal, a nifty travel pouch, & a shirt clip to control unruly cable slack. The 1-year manufacturer's product warranty is serviced worldwide by DENON Corporation.

Good, But Still Entry Level
by Steve P. from Rochester, NY on 2010-01-06

Pros: Easy Fit, Accurate Bass
Cons: Mids and Highs Less Pronounced
Would you recommend this product: Yes

Bought these as a replacement for the stock ear-buds that came with my mp3 player. While definitely a step up from stock buds, these ECHs still leave me a little wanting. The bass is definitely accurate and powerful enough to make Hip Hop and Electronic sound great, but the mids and highs suffer in the process. The mids sound a little muffled and the highs aren't as soaring as more expensive headphones.

Don't get me wrong, buying these is an easy recommendation and something that you won't regret. Just know that they're still on the lower-end of Denon's ECH line.

The fit is extremely easy. Just touch them to your ears and they fit nice and snug with very little effort. Avoid putting them in too far to get the best sound out of them.

All in all a great value, just a little bottom heavy.

Sets the standard for versatility!
by HappyHank from Toronto, Canada on 2010-02-09

Pros: Great sound, handles workouts and plane rides
Cons: Cable gets tangled easily
Would you recommend this product: Yes

I've owned Etymotics ER6 at the high end, and Koss $20 at the low end. Neither was really up to the job. These Denon's really came through, and are excellent value. I can wear them outside running and skiing, and then get in a plane and use them to travel across the country. Great fit, no extra parts required, like the earpieces on the Etymotics, and much more hardy than the Koss's. Just a great all round buy!

Solid Sound, Good Value
by Wilhelm from on 2010-01-28

Pros: Comfortable, Detachable Extension
Would you recommend this product: Yes

These Denons sound good, but not great. But for the price, they're a great value. They're well built and the detachable cord extension is convenient. They're also very comfortable even after hours of listening.

Great value. Descent sound.
by Iwakun from Springville, UT on 2010-01-19

Pros: Great value. Good sound, especially bass. Lightweight, easy to put in.
Cons: Fit isn't perfect. Really short cord. Not as noise reducing as expected.
Would you recommend this product: Yes

Got these to go with my portable music player. I was quite impressed by the difference between these and the "standard issue" earbuds. I was a little disappointed that they don't shut out ambient noise as well as I expected, but it's not bad. The cord is also really short, but they include an extension. Overall, these are an awesome value, especially at the HeadRoom price.

Disappointed
by truhu5 from Bowie, MD on 2010-01-18

Pros: The mistake didn't cost much
Cons: Overall sound quality
Would you recommend this product: No

The big bumpin' bass was a big bumpin' let down. They sounded like cheap headphones, which I guess they were for the price. There was bass but it wasn't a crisp bass sound.

Excellent, all-around headphones for the price
by Gamechip from San Angelo, TX on 2010-01-18

Pros: Comfortable, durable, great price and great quality for price, solid fit, light, and good isolation
Cons: short initial cable (extension cable almost always necessary)
Would you recommend this product: Yes

I would have to say that this is probably the best in ear monitor out there for the price. There is good isolation and very good overall sound quality. These headphones do have wonderful bass, but in order to hear the entirety of the bass, there must be little to no ambient noise. I would not say that these headphones have astounding or thumping bass, but I would say that the bass is pleasantly noticeable in many environments. I use these while running and I can say that I still hear the majority of the bass along with all of the other detailed elements of the song. They are also very good about staying in your ears when working out, the clip that comes with the headphoens is also especially helpful for that. These are excellent headphones for those with a tight budget or those just starting out in the audio world.
