Polk Audio's new UltraFit headphone series is a rethinking from the ground-up of heavy-duty sport-oriented features, audio performance, comfort and durability -- the principal traits athletes and serious exercisers demand most in a pair of good headphones. Music lovers will also value the Polk 'UltraFit' Series because of its impressive sonics and uber-tough build construction designed to handle whatever you gotta' throw at it to power you through hard workouts: moisture, sweat, sand, mud or even Norwegian death metal.

The Polk Audio UltraFit 1000 is similar in design to the UltraFit 500 but with the added feature of a 3 button in-line remote control plus microphone for your iPod, iPad or iPhone. Like the Polk UltraFit 500 model, the 1000 is designed to sit tidily within the flange of your outer ear canal and provide moderate noise suppression that will allow you to remain aware of your surroundings --  a huge plus for staying safe jogging neighborhood streets. The Polk UltraFit 1000 comes with a short (14" inch)  tangle-free flat-wound cable for short MP3 or iPhone / iPod connections, like when putting your player into an armband or shirt pocket. We highly recommend employing the provided cord clip to snug up and secure the cable as much as possible to minimize any potential for cable contact noise [aka 'cord microphonics'].

Most of the Polk UltraFit series in-ear/earbud headphones (500, 1000 and 3000 models) come with three cable length options, so you can wear your music device the way that works best for you. A long (41") cable enables you to wear your music player on your waist or pants pocket. The short (14") cable lets you to wear an iPod nano, iPod shuffle or other MP3 players on a shirt sleeve or armband. Cool stuff for gym maniacs, joggers or heavy flop-sweaters at the workplace cubicle.

Don't like
Posted by CJ from DC on 2013-11-06

Recommend Product: No
Pros: Unclear
Cons: Uncomfortable, do not stay in your ear

I found these almost impossible to use running or in the gym. If you have 10 minutes to fiddle with them to fit into your ear perfectly before your run or in the gym, I suppose they work. They constantly come out of my ears, the little attachments to the ear buds are uncomfortable and don't really help, and 3 button controller is fine but not a huge assist. At this point, I've also lost sound quality in one side.

Not worth it
Posted by hapa5 from East Lansing, MI on 2012-11-18

Recommend Product: No
Pros: Great sound, Great bass
Cons: Not durable, headphones fall out,

I was really excited to get these headphones after reading such great reviews. When I got them I was really impressed by the sound quality. But that's really the only thing these headphones have going for them. Within 2 months the ear pieces starting falling off, and there was a 1 week period when they just stopped working altogether. I was going to write a complain, but they started working a then sudden again, so I decided not to. The most recent development is now I have to hold the cable in a certain position according to the headphone jack or the right ear bud won't work. Not worth the money.
