Earpad or On-Ear ('Supra-Aural') Headphones Have Earpieces that Gently Rest on the Earlobes

Earpad -- or 'on-ear' -- headphones are available in open, closed, and noise cancelling types, and can vary greatly in their size dimensions. HeadRoom offers a vast array of the best earpad /on-ear headphones in both open and closed-back earcup designs. Earpad headphones usually have standard over-the-head headbands (some fold for compact transit or storage), but some can also be behind the neck or clip-on types as well. Closed-back or sealed earpad headphones can isolate the listener from some mild external ambient noise, but typically not as well as larger closed-back full size headphones.
