Etymotic Research Ety-Com
Conversation with an ordinary hands-free cell phone headset on a busy metropolitan sidewalk can be rather like painting on a roller coaster.... messy. But the acoustics geniuses over at Etymotic have been furiously wearing out their mechanical pencil lead getting the noise canceling and isolation properties of the Ety-Com exquisitely tweaked. The result is complete ease and stress-free conversation even in noisy environments (like a subway platform), and more privacy from a softer talking voice in quieter environments.
One end of the Ety-Com is the triple-flange, soft silicon rubber ear tip that is inserted in your ear; the other end is the highly directional boom microphone to pick up your voice. The headset has a four foot cable which terminates in a 2.5mm 90-degree angle mini-plug that mates with MOST cellphones. Also included are a few different types of eartip sleeves, a filter changing tool and a handy-dandy storage pouch.
Obtaining a good seal with the Etymotics --like ANY other in-ear monitor-- is crucially important. Read our Etymotic Insertion page to learn how to properly insert the Etymotics.
