The Apple iPhone earbuds & microphone array leave lots of room for audio improvement. So California's iHarmonix comes to the rescue with the introduction of their great-sounding and well-priced Platinum "i-Series" of in ear headphones compatible with all Apple iPhones (3G included) and Blackberry smartphones. The Platinum's impressive telephony microphone system remains its obvious calling card but these things are definitely no sound quality slouches either. Expect punchy sonics, clean bass response and detailed audio extension into the upper frequency ranges that renders both voices and music clearly intelligible and nicely open-toned. The well-engineered 'built-in' iPhone/Blackberry mic & talk feature provides full-range voice clarity while the Platinum's strong ambient noise isolation assures easy speech/dialogue recognition even in the loudest listening environments. Works great with laptop computers and portable gamers too, but for iPod or MP3 player 'music-only' listeners, we suggest the iHarmonix Platinum-EV series for improved musical performance since the lack of mic/talk componentry improves upon the sound quality.
The iHarmonix Platinum earphones have a unique brushed stainless steel plating that's amongst the slickest looks in the industry--without getting too blingy. The earphones come with three sizes (S/M/L) of replaceable silicon-flex gel eartip sleeves for an ideal personalized fit. Remember, the tightest in-ear seal will deliver the best sound quality and noise-blocking performance, so try all the various eartips to find the best sonic performance for you. The Platinum's mic button is neatly machined into the cord and offers a satisfying little 'click' when depressed--so no more wondering if the talk button has engaged or not! The Platinum's 1.3 meter length (approx 4ft) Y-cord is terminated to a 3.5mm [1/8"] gold-plated jack. A 1-year manufacturer's warranty is serviced directly through iHarmonix in California USA. Pros: Good looking, reasonable mic, good iphone controls
Cons: Mediocre sound quality,
The remote button has worked reasonably, it's a bit of a reach to get to, but I can click to play/pause, double-click to advance, and even hold down the button to activate voice recognition.
As a set of headphones or a hands-free unit, it performs satisfactorily. Sound quality is okay, but not great. The lows seem a bit overpowering, and the sound feels a little muddy.
The people I've spoken to tell me the microphone is a bit hollow sounding, like I'm using a speakerphone, but it was acceptable.
For outdoors use, the way the eartip sleeves are design, it really picks up a lot of wind noise, to the point where it drowns out your music. The eartip sleeves are really poorly design, when you put them in your ear, they are *really* loud because of the way they trap and release air.
To summarize, I think it's a reasonable set of earphones, but it is not usable outdoors when it's windy.

Pros: sound and noise cancellation
Cons: durability
Let me make myself clear. I am a quiet person who used her earphones in the train and while walking. I did not use them in extreme conditions or for working out.
I'm disapointed in ihamonix's return policy since they cannot REFUND me and keep sending me replacements which break in a month.
I also own Audio Technica M50 headphones and I so wished I could find an equivalent in "in-ear" headphones. I'm now doing research to find an in ear eaphone with fabric cable with great sound and noise cancellation.
