Applications:

Based on the acclaimed Image X10 headphones, the Klipsch Image X10i in-ear headset offers the best in style and comfort with full telephone features for your iPhone or iPad. The sound caters to discriminating Apple listeners who play lossless music and take calls on the fly. The X10i earpieces are made of high-end machined aluminum for maximum clarity and minimal housing resonances and come finished in an anodized copper flashing. Proprietary full-range armature micro-speaker drivers with a uniquely tuned bass-reflex system deliver rapid dynamic extension, magnificent voice clarity and a full-toned bass response. Naturally smooth in the uppermost treble ranges for zero harshness or sibilance, please remember the X10i is not geared for casual mp3 listening. If you rip your digital music files using compression formats and lower bitrates, there's a good chance the X10i will act as a dead-accurate, high-resolution / high definition in-ear headphone and uncover some limitations in your audio signal. The X10i microphone and remote is conveniently positioned at the cord yoke -- where the two cables meet at chest level -- to create a more natural feel when answering calls or controlling music. Because the Klipsch mic is a highly intelligible 360-degree design, you are not forced to have to talk down into it or hold it next to your lips for clarity. The mic also features built-in echo cancellation which keeps it from picking up ambient noise, so you will always be heard perfectly clear even in noisy environs. Complete remote control features are only compatible with Apple players / smartphones.

It doesn't matter how great a pair of headphones sound if they are painful to wear. Unlike traditional circular-shaped eartips that typically put stress on the pressure points inside your ear canal, the X10i utilizes unique Klipsch-patented 'half-oval' ear tips that naturally fit the shape of your ear canals, making them extremely comfortable to wear for short or long periods. Additionally, these proprietary eartips produce a wonderful acoustic seal, minimizing environmental noise so you can enjoy your music at lower, safer volumes. The Klipsch Image X10i comes with a strong 2-year manufacturer's "repair or replace" product warranty (with your HeadRoom 'authorized dealer' proof-of-purchase receipt) and includes an excellent array of 5 pairs of variously-sized eartips, an earpiece cleaning tool, an airline plug adaptor, a full-size 1/4"-inch stereo plug adaptor, a protective carry/travel pouch as well as a shirt clip for securing the headphone cord slack to your shirt, if desired.

Klipsch X-10i Compatibility While the Klipsch Image X10i stereo headset can serve as premium headphones for any audio device with a 3.5 mm (1/8") headphone jack like an original iPod, WalkMan, portable CD players, laptops or mp3 players, its mic/remote system will only handle the music and/or voice control of the following Apple products: iPhone 3/4G/4S, 3rd gen iPod Shuffle, 2nd Gen iPod Touch, 4th/ 5th Gen iPod Nano models, iPod Classic 120GB, and iPad. If you have an iPod Touch or iPhone with Wi-Fi access, you can also use the Image X10i with most VoiP programs (you'll need a VoiP adapter for PC or Mac), Skype and iChat.

One of the Very Best IEMs at any price.
Posted by Audio Supremus from Hong Kong on 2012-07-26

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Superb sound and comfort. Excellent value.
Cons: Requires a decent headphone amplifier to bring out its' best.

The X-10i and its' predecessor X-10 is a controversial and one of the most underrated high-end IEMs (In-Ear Monitors). While many reviewers and audiophiles alike have lauded its' superb sound and comfort, others have criticized it as having excessive bass, a recessed mid-range, and narrow soundstage rendition. The truth is the X-10i requires good amplification to bring out its' magic. Listening directly from an iPod or MP3 player may indeed yield those former shortcomings, but when coupled with a decent portable or desktop headphone amp, and it's becomes totally different story. The sound is balanced and well extended from the upper-most octaves to the lowest bass. Soundstage is wide and deep, and the mid-range comes forward with great immediacy. What's more is that being a single armature design, the sound is perfectly smooth and coherent from top to bottom. The X-10i however is not the most neutral IEM around, and does have a very slight coloration to its' sound. But what coloration there is, it is coherent with the rest of the sonic spectrum. Overall, a very engaging listening experience and rightfully highly recommended.

As with all headphones, they require a 'burn-in' period (about 120+ hours). Most people including many reviewers say BA (Balanced-Armatures) IEMs don't require burning in, but while that's true for the BA part, they all forget that the headphone cable itself requires a 'burn-in', as is the case with all audio cables.

Great sound for tiny IEMs
Posted by Clearmind from American in Taiwan on 2012-07-18

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Deep, dependable bass, clear highs
Cons: Midrange slightly dry

These really do have amazing sound given their tiny size. Their fit and comfort level is also first rate. The overall sound is slightly dark, with excellent, deep bass, but their highs are also very clear and detailed, which gives them a good sense of ambience and soundstaging. Hearing such deep and well-controlled bass from earphones this tiny is amazing. I've rarely heard the deep bass pedal note that ends the Book of Eli soundtrack sound as clear and firm as it does on these, for example. They sound great with electronic music especially and various kinds of pop or rock, and the treble clarity means their sound is open enough to work well with most classical music too.

So if pure clarity from top to bottom is what you're after, these will provide it. If they have a weakness it lies in a slight dryness in the midrange, compared to the richer midrange of, for example, the Logitech UE900 or the more expensive Shure 535. Occasionally certain instruments or voices may end up sounding just a little forward or edgy, or with a slight sense of hardness. This is a small flaw, however, since usually this extra accent blends into the overall sound signature. .

The fit and comfort is simply excellent. Despite their tiny size and me being a large person, their selection of half-oval eartips lets me get a good seal inside my ears (which is one factor in getting good sound). In this respect they are better than any IEM I've tried and I put in a lot of listening time with these, which is the real test. And for what it's worth, I like these better than the even more expensive and highly acclaimed Shure 535.

A note added later: If you use shims around the tip of the nozzle (some stores sell ones that are custom made), you can fit the "olive" type of tips onto these. You will still get a good fit, and you may find that because of the slightly larger opening, the highs open up just a bit more and become smoother.

As portable as it gets
Posted by LT from Colorado Springs on 2012-05-12

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Great sound, good packaging, very light weight
Cons: cords are microphonic, and the cloth covered cords more fragile

They are so light weight that with the unique big flange ear tips, it should be easy to achieve a great seal. My ear canals are large and the tips included worked perfectly. The same tips did not work well with the Custom 3 because it weighed more. I had to use Shure black olive tips for the Klipch Custom 3.

Really, the greatest advantage is that they are so light, but sound so good. The Etymotics are very light and sound more neutral than the Klipsch and are a bit cheaper. The Klipsch 10-x has more bass than the Etymotics.

I really like the Klipsch 10. They are really fun, but the Etymotics are probably more accurate. also light, and appear to be more sturdy.
