The Monster Beats by Dre Studio headphones are amongst the most in-demand cans in all of headphone-land and it's no wonder why; they have something for every listener. According to Monster founder Noel Lee, the Beats went through 150 product design iterations before Dr.Dre and Monster were completely happy, and the extreme attention to detail clearly shows in both form and function. The Studio headphones offer astonishingly cool looks, extremely comfortable design ergonomics, true "active" powered noise-cancelling design, and surprising sound quality all in a circumaural ['around the ear'] sealed full-size headphone ready for the streets, airplane, iPod / iPhone or home stereo. If hearing all the bass present in your music is a top demand, the Beats by Dr.Dre easily deliver the full dynamics & sonic detail of the recording like you've never heard it. It's a clear contender to be amongst the top audio performers in the entire 'noise-cancelling' category and amongst the best-looking headphones we've laid eyes on. The Beats by Dre Studio are cool cans for hip hip-hop audio mavens rockin' in style.
The Monster Beats by Dr.Dre Studio headphones have a black-with-red-accents high-gloss finish that sets them apart from the usual boring grey headphones. Solid build quality includes: full headband collapsibility for travel, nicely comfortable sealed-back earcups and extra-soft earcup padding, and a matching red, fully detachable, flat-wound micro-cord that is terminated to a high-quality gold-plated 1/8" [3.5mm] mini-plug jack. The proprietary (of course!) Monster Beats by Dr.Dre headphone flat-wound, non-tangle cord extends only about 3.5 ft -- which is ideal for portable listening -- and features straight 3.5mm plug on both ends. This ingenious flat-wound micro-strand cabling nicely resists tangling while looking schweet in the process. Killer headphones and rated as "highly recommended" by our HeadRoom hip-hop fanatics!
The free 1-year manufacturer's repair or replacement warranty remains intact ONLY when purchased from true "authorized" Monster headphone dealers -- like HeadRoom-Headphone.com. Please keep in mind the Beats by Dre headphones are the MOST counterfeited headphones in the history of the industry and, according to Monster, 99% of the Monster Beats sold via un-authorized channels (Amazon, eBay, etc) are fakes! So PLEASE make sure your Monster purchase is made at a true authorized Monster headphone dealer.

Pros: Noise Isolation, Low End, Single Cable
Cons: Weight, Headband, Mechanical, Price, High End
The beats are heavy, mechanically not reliable, have a terrible headband and are way too pricey for the "name". I would suggest Monster make a generic and drop the price by 50% so they don't have to keep paying Dr. Dre. I hope this fad disappears soon.
The joints where the phones collapse broke on me after about a year, but forget about Monster helping you after a year. They will just tell you the speech that "we only warranty our products for one year". For this reason that Monster will not stand behind their products, will I not recommend this product to anyone.

Pros: Comfortable, Look awesome
Cons: lousy noise-canceling
As for sound quality: the only thing I have to compare them to are my dad's Bose headphones (not sure of the model- sorry. They're the noise-canceling over-ear ones, though- same as these), and while the Bose are good, these are great. The response is good at nearly every frequency, although it seems like parts of the bass range respond better than others. This is only a slight complaint, though, as it's not very noticeable. One thing that frustrates me, though, is the noise canceling. While it's a nice thing to have, it could deifnitely be better. The Bose have a far better noise-canceling capability than these. Also, you have to turn the noise-canceling on for the headphones to work. This can be frustrating, especially if I'm using them in school. Some headphones are able to still operate with the noise canceling off, and I get the sense that this would be a useful feature. Other than that, though, no complaints. These are a great set of cans, and I'd happily recommend them to potential purchasers. In fact, I already have.
