Applications:
Finding a decent-sounding sealed headphone is difficult, finding a cheap sealed headphone that sounds tolerable is almost impossible. Almost we say, because the HD202 is extremely tolerable compared to many other models around this low price point. Although they do exhibit the typical (for inexpensive cans) slight 'honkiness' in the mids and a rolled-off uppermost treble range, these flaws are fairly modest given the cost; in fact, the musical clarity and overall sonic punch of these cans is knock-down impressive for the price. These lightweight, tough-built cans are great for keeping the kids' video games/DVD watching/ loud music at bay OR for ramping down the dorm room noise while not spending a big wad of cash in the process.
The HD202 use a 'closed/sealed' almost-circumaural earcup design. They have mid-sized, circular pleather earpads that nearly surround the ears, but are not quite large enough to prevent the flat part of the earpads from resting gently on the outside part of the earlobes. The result is headphones that have the desirable light weight and small size of a supra-aural design, but have the secure fit and comfort of a larger circumaural model.
The HD202 are all-black in color and use a very simple three-piece construction consisting of the two earcups and the headband assembly. The earcups attach via little ball-like protrusions that ride in a small groove within the headband; the detents in this groove allow you to adjust the fit slightly. This design also allows one to remove the earpieces from the headband for compact storage or traveling purposes, although too much disassembly/re-attachment could potentially cause premature wear on the grooved detents. The non-detachable cable is approximately a 3-meter long 'Y'-type and is terminated with a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-plug. A 1/8" to 1/4" adapter is handily included in the packaging. A 2-year product warranty remains standard with all Sennheiser headphones ONLY when purchased through an authorized dealer like HeadRoom!

Would you recommend this product: Yes
This, together with the HD 201 also from Sennheiser, are basically the kings of "cheap" headphones from major manufacturers. The HD 201 is the more neutral of the two, and I think the more versatile. However, the HD 201 has much less bass than this one. If you are looking for big bass in an inexpensive headphone, this is the one to get. Please also note, however, that while the HD 202 appears circumaural (and actually the pads do fit completely around my ears), it feels like more of a supra-aural headphone, and is therefore significantly less comfortable than the HD 201. Both headphones have long cords, which cut into their utility as portables.

Pros: durable, can get loud for DJ environments, good isolation
Cons: uncomfortable, sounds like a tin can
Would you recommend this product: No
I would only recommend this product if you were a beginning DJ with little money and just wanted to hear the music. I used these at my church for a year or so and thought they sounded very bad, especially the high end of the sound spectrum. They were piercing to my ears and I could not wear them for a long time. Also, they pushed against my head very tightly, which also made things that much more unbearable. This offered very good isolation, but at the cost of comfort.
