Sennheiser HD 218
Sennheiser has worked wonders with this little headphone. The HD218 is a very small-size, sealed ultra-lightweight 'earpad' design with an excellently balanced musical presentation so lows, mids, and highs line up quite nicely. It's also highly efficient and makes for a great sonic upgrade for your iPod, iPad, portable music player or MP3 device. This ergonomic headphone sits lightly on the ears and provides moderate isolation from ambient noise; if strong isolation is a requirement, full-sized sealed headphones should likely be investigated.

Engineering inexpensive products to sonically perform well is no simple task but the headphone research gurus at Sennheiser in Germany are all over it. The HD218 is an extremely impressive little sealed-earcup can offering a 'hardly-there' comfortable lightweight fit and great sound quality at the pricepoint. The deeply padded, small-sized supra-aural earcups do a solid job at nicely attenuating ambient noise while minimizing dreaded headphone leakage to your cubicle neighbors. Very clean-toned and detailed up & down the entire frequency range, this is a superb 'entry-level' portable headphone for commuters, collegians, and economy-minded listeners seeking significantly improved sound from their iPod, iPhone, or Mp3 player at minimal investment.
The Sennheiser HD218 come in a cool grey/black color and employ a newly-designed, extremely ergonomic headband construction that is secure on the head, fully stable during active movements, and exerts only a very light clamping pressure on the ears -- very comfy! The HD218 offers respectable ambient noise attenuation ratings for such a small-sized can; listeners can typically expect about -8dB to -10dB of noise reduction. The earpads will rotate flat for ease of transit or storage. The efficient 24-ohm impedance and high 108dB sensitivity ratings ensure robust performance from basically any audio source without any headphone amp required. The HD218's single-sided cord exits from the left earcup--no messy "Y" cable tangling!--and the overall cable length is approximately 4ft long and terminates to a 'mini-plug' 3.5mm (1/8") right-angled connection. However, keep in mind NO full-size 1/4" plug adapter is provided in the package. A 2-year product warranty remains standard on all Sennheiser headphones.
