In their top-shelf Sennheiser IE-8i earphones, the headphone industry gentle giant has developed a unique earpiece tuning system that allows listeners to easily adjust the driver response for a truly personalized tone suited to your individual listening taste. A quick rotation of a tiny screw in each IE-8i earpiece adjusts the bass response from smooth and very present to hugely booming basshead tones in a matter of seconds. It's a useful feature to compensate for the weak-kneed bass response of many portable / mp3 players or low-bitrate compressed digital audio files -- or if you just want to have your cranium rocked with spine-tingling bass extension. The built-in mic works with most smartphones but the remote play/pause/skip features only functions with recent Apple product vintages. Sonically, the IE-8i highs remain crisply rendered supported by mid-ranges that synergize smoothly with speech or voice for clear call communications. The bass can sometimes get a bit thick and slightly 'sub-woofer' undistinguished at times on the IE-8 i's maximum bass setting, so some judicious fine tuning is all that's likely needed for most 'non-basshead' audiophiles.
The ergonomics and construction of the Sennheiser IE-8i is as advanced as their engineering. The IE-8i matte-black earpieces can be outfitted with provided detachable earloops for improved comfort / wearing security and the slick IE-8iP package contains a good array of various S/M/L silicon eartip choices. The 4.5ft-long IE-8i earphone cable is a symmetric 'Y-cord' type properly shielded and insulated to minimize annoying cable noise microphonics; it terminates to a right-angled 3.5mm 'mini' (1/8") stereo plug. The provided earphone nozzle cleaning tool doubles as tuning screwdriver perfectly sized for the IE-8i's 'mini' screw. A handy shirt clip to minimize cable slack is also included. A 2-year Sennheiser warranty is free with all their headphone products when proof-purchased ONLY from Sennheiser-authorized dealers -- like HeadRoom since 1992!

Had some in-ear earlier, but this thing is just the best ever. No stile, no shiny look, its just plain sound. Is like my favorit, worn-out sneakers: dont even notice I have them on, and wouldn't make a step outside without it.
