How Do I Get Recabled Headphones?
For all brands requiring a custom recable job (Denon, Grado, AKG, and beyerdynamic), you may purchase a brand-new set of recabled headphones from HeadRoom, or you may send in your existing headphones to us to be recabled.
More Info On Our Custom Re-cable Jobs:
How Much Does Recabling My Headphones Cost?
The cost is $249 for standard 10ft lengths of Cardas Fat Pipe headphone cord.
Shorter cord lengths will be slightly less; longer cord lengths will be slightly more. HeadRoom uses superb Neutrik connectors and Cardas solder on all our work. Please call our HeadRoom Sales Dept for an exact price quote and estimated ETA on your headphone recable work.
Which Headphone Cable Does HeadRoom Use?
HeadRoom exclusively employs Cardas Audio 'Fat Pipe' upgraded headphone cable for all our in-house recabling jobs. Fat Pipe is unavailable elsewhere and is manufactured solely for us by George Cardas in Bandon, Oregon USA to HeadRoom specifications. In direct comparison with other often much more expensive "boutique" after-market cabling, we have found it to be the lightest, most pliable, most durable -- and, of course, excellent sounding -- headphone cabling in the industry today.
Some headphones can be recabled for balanced operation using the stock cable. We currently offer the Sennheiser HD800 and beyerdynamic T1 with balanced terminations on both of those headphones' uncommonly excellent "stock" factory cord.
How Long Does it Take for HeadRoom to Recable My Headphones?
While most headphone recable jobs are performed in 1-2 weeks, it could take up to 4-5 weeks to receive your upgraded recabled headphones back on your doorstep depending solely on the type of headphone, the actual headphone cabling re-work required at HeadRoom and the availability of cabling and/or needed parts selected by the customer. We will provide you with an accurate lead time upon placing your order.
Once I have my headphones recabled to balanced drive, can I still listen to them in single-ended mode?
Yes. For those headphones that have a custom recable hard-wired, you will need a Balanced-single-ended adaptor, called a HeadRoom XLR-1/4".
Do my recabled headphones come with any kind of warranty?
Yes! The upgraded Cardas Fat Pipe cable features a Lifetime HeadRoom Warranty on the cable as well as our installation work. The headphone manufacturer's original headphone warranty is not affected by having your headphones upgraded (note: the headphone warranty starts from the actual purchase date of the headphones). Any HeadRoom warranty issues or questions should be directed to service@headphone.com
