Great portable headphones

Pros: Sturdy and solid but light; authoritative bass
Cons: Slightly hard on the head
These are great headphones for portable use. I am not a DJ, so I cannot speak to that application, but they are extremely rugged and light, on the small side, and isolate very well, so they are ideal as portable headphones. If you are not looking for good bass, do not get these -- they are obviously tuned for DJs, so the bass is prominent, although it is not what I would call overwhelming. I listen mainly to rock and hip hop, and they handle those genres well.
In counterpoint to the emphasized bass, the mids are not recessed, and there is plenty of high-end detail, although not what I would call "sparkle." Where they really stand out is in their imaging -- very sophisticated -- and quickness. They are striking, because the kind of response they give in the higher frequencies and the detail they provide is unusual in my experience for a bass-leaning headphone. These deserve all the credit given to them by HeadRoom staff, and should definitely be spoken of more often for people seeking headphones in the DJ/portable category.
