1st set of headphones
Posted by JET123 from Ft Collins, CO on 2013-01-17Posted on Beyerdynamic DT 235 Black
Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: HR comments matched what I heard
Cons: none
This is my 1st set of headphones so I was really depending on the HR staff's comments to help decide. I am using these to listen to laptop audio (Pandora) that includes 80 alternative, 70s funk, mixed in with Peter Murphy, The Band Perry & The Samples.
After about 20 hours of burn-in time, I would strongly say these are balanced! By that I mean no single part of the music is dominant. Good bass, good treble, not dark, not shiny - just balanced. I really do feel the HR staff comments described the performance to a T.

Under the Radar Great Buy

Pros: comfortable, balanced sound, great value
Cons: cable is a bit too long
Decided to try these out, as they were so reasonably priced, and they have turned out be a real pleasant surprise. I am a bit of a sound snob (have to have high quality sound with everything) but I'm very satisfied with these 'phones, my first pair of Beyerdynamics. They have a nicely balanced sound with enough bass, smooth mids and treble. I wouldn't say the high end sparkles exactly, but it is there. I use these on my computer with my Bithead and I've never heard such high quality sound from my lossless I-Tunes files - I'm pretty happy. These are very comfortable and you really do forget you are wearing them - they are light and the headband design is well done. I would prefer a shorter cable but not a big deal. Highly recommended in the sub $100 category.

Great sound for people with pointy heads!

Pros: Comfortable head band, excellent sound for price
Cons: Imaging is only so-so
I admit, I have a pointy head, and it makes an awful lot of headphones very uncomfortable in no time at all. That's pretty much limited me to ultra-light headphones, or in-ear. The best sounding headphone in the world is useless if it's uncomfortable. Got these because the design of the headband looked like just the answer for my pointy head.
Yes it is! These are so comfortable. The sound is much better than I expected for the price. I'd intended these for minor use at the computer I use for printing photographs, but I've taken to using them a lot with my iPod in a lot of situations. Initially I thought they sounded a little echo-y, like the sound was coming through a tube, but more listening and that's not my perception any more.
They have typical headphone "it's all in your head" imaging, but very good sound quality. Can hear inner instruments and all types of music come across well, from Bach to Orbital. I have fancier, more expensive headphones for when I'm just listening to music, so these do what I wanted, give me something with good enough quality to support work, and wear for a long time. I'd find it hard to imagine getting better sealed headphones at the price point. I've had some much more expensive and fancier headphones in the past that were nowhere near the clarity and balance of these.
They look kind of plastic-y, not particularly sharp looking, but I didn't buy them for looks - I bought them for good sound and great comfort.
Well - they sound good and I can wear them for hours!

Great Deal

Pros: Soft, Comfortable, Good sound, Long cord
Cons: Long Cord
I have the Galactic version of these headphones that I bought from the B-stock. Don't know how much difference there is between the two but mine sound great from my tiny creative zen. The long cord is good from the office if your headphone jack is far away but you might have to wind it if you are walking around with these on.

Perfect Features

Pros: Nice isolation, Balanced sound, Very Comfortable
Cons: Could fit better on my small head
These headphones have a such a nice set of attributes- isolation, comfort, durability, and balanced sound, they are hard to resist. They have just enough isolation to be perfect for environments with a little noise. They are comfortable, but seem to be designed for someone with a larger head. They piece that actually sits on the top of my head has elastic that doesn't stretch when it's on my head, allowing it more movement than it should have. It could feel more secure. (If you have an average sized head, this probably won't be an issue for you.) They are so obviously well built, with a thick long cord that you know they're not going to break anytime soon. The sound is very balanced with nice crisp bass. I highly recommend these comfortable phones for times when you need isolation.

Great little headphones
Posted by A HeadRoom Fan on 2010-01-17Posted on Beyerdynamic DT 235 Black
Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Great sound, lightweight, comfortable
Cons:
I actually would rate these 4.5 stars if I had the option, so in deciding to rate them at four or five stars, I considered that HeadRoom rates them four stars, and I opted to balance that out a little bit. Of course, I would not have bought these without the HeadRoom review, because people don't really push these headphones on the review sites. Why, I do not know -- they are fantasic little headphones.
They sound great - nice strong bass, detailed highs without being too bright, rich mids -- are very light and easy-fitting, and pretty much disappear on your head. I am not an audiophile type, but I can tell you that these make music come alive, and immerse you in your recordings.
I note that, as HeadRoom says, they are also good for portable use, but I have to warn you that the cord is fairly long, which cuts into their utility on that score just a little bit. However, I strongly recommend these headphones in the under $100 category. In fact, I think they are my favorites in that category. And they are well under $100. You can't go wrong. Try them!
