Ultimate Ears UE350 Product Reviews

Top Ten Under $500

The Ultimate Ears UE350 are rock-bottom priced for the high-end in-ear monitor [IEM] category, but rest assured that doesn't mean lowly rock-bottom sonic performance. In fact, the UE350's highly attractive price may perhaps dissuade some music lovers from believing that these are all they're claimed to be. Rest assured, the UE350 has deeply impressive bass response recommended for hip-hop, funk and bass lovers on a budget, along with excellent mids & highs that don't get washed out. If you're seeking great low bass in your next set of affordable in-ears, try the UE350 and compare them to any other IEM at this pricepoint -- and prepare for face-palming. Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Great value, decent sound, durable
Cons: Need to be cleaned frequently

Like others have said before me, the mesh seal needs to be cleaned more often than any headphones I've previously dealt with. It's almost as if the headphones act as a vacuum. However, these are the best quality headphones you can find in their price range. Booming bass, clear mids and highs. They respond wonderfully to EQs, which is nice for those who tinker. A perfect fit for smartphones with adjustable EQs and a HeadRoom headphone amp.

Great IEM's, but Balance Issues

Posted by Hoobie7 from Illinois on 2012-10-01

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Great sound for a cheap price
Cons: Left is louder than right

I love these headphones.
They sound great.
And they are cheap.
Unfortunately I am having the same balance issue.
I am currently using them with a 48 point difference. (L=28, R=76)
My assumption: the built in sound card on my work PC had damaged them.
I contacted Logitech and they sent me a new pair. (The mic style)
I am now using an Audigy sound card but the damage seems to be done.
I may try cleaning the screens as recommended.
Unfortunate but I can't help but give it a 4/5.

**EDIT**
After cleaning they are much better! (L=35, R=44)
Take caution when clean the screen it is VERY thin and VERY fragile!
You will most likely cave it in and then need to reseat it with a toothpick.
Kind of a pain but it makes a big difference.
I guess this screen clogs pretty easy.
None of this, however, changes my review.

Great buy, pity about the build quality.

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Great sound, Good value
Cons: Build quality isn't the greatest.

Would have given these 5 stars if they still sounded the same as when I got them. Was blown away at first. Couldn't be happier. After a couple of months I found that the one side was getting lower in volume. Turns out it's the mesh cover that gets clogged up. Cleaned both, but it's very hard to keep the panning centered. Lasts for a day or two and then I need to fiddle with the mesh cover again. Could just be mine... haven't heard of anyone else having this problem.

EDIT:

After fiddling with the mesh covers more I finally got the panning balanced and they actually stayed that way for a good month until I lost them. Ordering another pair.

My most 'fun' IEM's

Posted by B from Tucson, AZ on 2012-07-09
Posted on Ultimate Ears UE350

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Shape, Bass, Control, Value
Cons: Stock Tips

I have used these earphones for about a year and I love them. They are my go-to IEM's for use outside of the house. I used the stock tips when I first got them but since I have only used Comply Ts-200's (spherical) and I cannot stand to use the stock tips any more. With the isolation of the Comply tips, the 350's can really show their control and richness. They don't seem to have any prominent weaknesses in their frequency-response but they definitely have a strong low-end spectrum. After getting sick of "Massive low-end response" (@ the Sennheiser 229's!) full size/on-ear phones I got these and haven't thought of getting anything else to satisfy my bass needs. I did not rate them on comfort because I hate the stock silicon tips and would rather use Skullcandy stock tips but with upgraded tips that fit my personal preference I would give them 5 stars in comfort.

Over-performing for price

Posted by Zhimbo from Ann Arbor, MI on 2012-06-06
Posted on Ultimate Ears UE350

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: good fit and seal w/many tips to chose from, heavier construction than typical for price range
Cons: Bass can be overbearing.

I haven't really found better in-ears for the price, so I think these are an excellent value.

You get 5 choices of ear tips, much better than typical for the price. Sound isolation is great - they're fairly shallow fitting, not too "intrusive", yet still block out a lot of outside noise. They definitely seem to be built more heavily than "peer" phones and seem like they'll last a good while - reinforced in all the right places, etc.

But...the bass response is HUGE. This is by design and that may well appeal to some. To me, the bass is generally out of balance and on some music just plain overbearing. The bass that is present is of pretty good quality - it handles my personal "torture test" of bass surprisingly well - there's just way, way too much for my taste.

So, I recommend these as superb budget in-ear phones, with the caveat that you better like a lot of bass.

Are these really sub-$50 headphones?

Posted by Kaoss from Vancouver, BC on 2012-05-18
Posted on Ultimate Ears UE350

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Warm, prominent midrange. Deep, tightly controlled, bass. Crisp, well-defined high end.
Cons: None so far.

I was planning on purchasing these from Headroom, until I saw a better deal for $35 and I didn't hesitate to pick them up. After a 10-hour break-in period, I must say I was blown away. Never have I heard a sub-$50 IEM perform so well. The midrange was rich and warm. The bass was outstanding, reaching to the lowest of lows while not once making the midrange muddy and deleting the highs. The highs were still crisp and well-defined. The UE350 gives richly realistic listening experience. I've used many different low to mid-range IEMs, and I must say, the UE350 pretty much tops the list in terms of price, sound quality and build quality.

Great headphones, But worst lasting too........

Posted by luminaryJulian from Sherman Oaks, CA on 2012-04-19

Recommend Product: No
Pros: Great bass and good sound, Comfortable at times
Cons: Dont last that long, uncomfortable at times

So i saw on here that these were the the top 10. They were cheap, had good bass, and very easy to move around with. Which is true, when i first got them I fell in love with them. I saw they were sweat proof too so i skated with them. I went down to the market, got a drink and chilled out. When I put the headphones back on they broke? Yes they broke in less in a day of receiving it, the sound on one earphone won't work. I got a exchange but they only lasted for a month and the same error happened again. In my opinion I wouldn't waste my money on these. Do further research before buying. Over all there great head phones don't get me wrong but not when they last less then a month.....

Super Bummer!

Pros: Fantastic sound!
Cons: Won't stay in my right ear!!

That's about it. I'm no audiophile anymore, but even an old codger like me, with all kinds of hearing problems can tell that these earbuds are amazing all the way across the frequency range. Excellent!

But, I can't get them to stay in my right ear. I opened them about an hour and a half ago, and have tried all 5 sizes of earpiece a couple of times, and none will stay in my right ear for more than a minute or two. Then it just backs out until I can't hear it anymore.

Pros: Good value, excellent SQ, tremendous bass response
Cons: None

Quite simply a value for money winner in my book. I am a long time AKG and Sennheiser customer who is blown away by the quality of sound out of these UE 350's. Listening to Skrillex - Roughneck Bass Full Flex in Apple lossless right now...smiles.

Highly recommended purchase!

Cheers
