Yuin PK1 Product Reviews

It's hard to get audiophile respect as "The World's Best Earbud"... except from us! Holy cow, these tiny buds are as superb-sounding as many renown full-size headphones. Extraordinary bass response, fully coherent mids and a smoothly clear treble extension; frankly, we don't know how YUIN does it. The YUIN PK1 are engineered as inefficient, high-impedance earbuds so a good  headphone amp is very highly recommended for maximum smoothness and musical detail. If you're seeking the very best that an earbud can offer, stop here. Astonishing.

Best sounding earbud on the planet!!!!!

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

If you want the best sounding lightweight headphones and don't mind the lack of isolation, these earbuds are da bomb! I love the clarity and presence of the Yuin PK1's. They're a bit hard to drive (you'll need an amplifier)[BTW: the TAH amp rocks too] but they are absolutley wonderful sounding headphones. I've compared them with $300 to $400 headphones and they are right up there. $160 for earbuds sounds expensive but are really a bargain compared to the overall sound quality they produce. You can't go wrong with the PK1 heaphones. Highly Recommended.

Amp them up or you're wasting them.

Pros: Great sounding
Cons: Easily dislodged

I'm one of those guys that just can't do in-ears. I'd like too but I think of taking them in and out and I'm just not going to go through that.

Then I found the PK1s. Every review said that they sounded great. Every experience I'd had with earbuds has been pretty unimpressive. No highs, noisy/buzzy bass or just plain cheap construction.

The only aural trouble with the PK1s is that they want POWER. At 150 ohms they require some muscle to drive them. When you do these just sing. These are my pocket 'phones and I even carry a pocket amp just to ensure that any source can drive them.

The only design cons are that they aren't stylish and can slip rather easily from the ear but the rest of the build quality can't be faulted. The kit they come with (box, case, extra pads, and so on) is the representation of the effort they put into the headphones themselves. It is not to distract you from bad phones, it is to respect just how good they really are.

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: incredible sound will blow you out of your mind
Cons: could look a bit more fashionable, but with 5 star sound, that dosen't matter too much

Yuin should be as respected as Bose or Sennhiser because these 'buds sure beat them! I got these as a gift and first thought my friend was being cheap with some 2$ headphones. i ended up thanking him a million times for the greatest headphones i have ever experienced. after i got the Yuins, I sold my:
Skullcandy Holua,
Gagabeats,
Etymophics,
and bose tri-port in ear's

An Amazing Earbud

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Superb sound; excellent fit and comfort for an earbud; well worth the price.
Cons: Straight, rather than right angle, plug is at risk of damage.

After trying a number of earbuds which featured both poor sound quality and poor fit, I tried these buds on HeadRoom's recommendation. I've had them over a year now. They've held up well for both travel and sports use. Despite the absence of any ear clip or head band, the PK1s stay in place when walking as well as during sports activities such as biking and weight room work. Since I use them only with a mobile music device or for air travel, I don't use a headphone amp, yet the sound level is quite adequate, even when walking in heavy traffic or sitting on an airplane. There's a surprising amount of sound insulation given that the buds aren't inserted into the ear canal. Finally, the cylindrical carrying case is quite useful, once you learn to coil the cord around a couple of fingers, beginning at the plug, squish it into the canister, then lay the ear buds on top. It's tight, but it fits. This was a great buy and wonderful compromise for those times when portability is required.

So earbuds CAN sound good!

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Discreet, good-fitting, down right decent sound
Cons: Well, they are earbuds

The PK1s were purchased along with a Total Bithead for in-cubicle listening. They replaced Sennheiser MX 760s, which are Sennheiser's top shelf ear buds. Comparing the two side by side, the Yuin's are very clear sounding, with a much fuller bass response. After getting used to them, the MX 760's sound intolerably bright.

Another bonus of the Yuin's is a case that actually makes sense for earbuds. At first I didn't get it, but it's easy to use. It's basically like a film canister. I just wrap the cord around two fingers and they easily slide in or out of the case. Much better than the wind-up type devices that plague earbud's these days.

If earbuds are your preferred form factor, look no further.
