Awesome!

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Clarity, detail, instrument separation, resolution, airy trebles, neutrality, accuracy
Cons: none
I got these from HeadRoom and they sound wonderful. I have the Etymotic ER-4PT and it restores the airy treble performance especially for classical and opera music. It also increases resolution, clarity, and detail retrieval plus accuracy and transparency. Finally, bass extension and power are improved slightly.

not enough attenuation in some situations

I got this adaptor because music on my Android phone with the ER-4P plays way too loudly, even on the lowest volume setting. Unfortunately this adaptor did not fix that. Still, it did improve things on my Mac laptop.

Most expensive resistor I ever bought.

Pros: It converts ER4p to ER4s
Cons: It is too expensive for what it is, a resistor.
When I bought the ER4Ps, I thought I would go ahead and get these so I could have ER4S as well. How clever of me! I patted myself on the back. Then I realized what it is exactly that this thing does... it's a couple of resistors. I hope for the price they charge they put nice resistors in there, but who knows. I do use this when I have the ER4 hooked up to an amp. They do sound a little better when I hook this cable up, hence the 3 stars, but not enough to justify the price. Given what I know now, I would just buy some really nice audio grade resistors, a female 1/8" jack, a male 1/8" jack, and some wire, and make one of these myself.

The best way to get the most out of your ER4P
Posted by VinnieVidi from NYC on 2010-01-29Posted on Etymotic ER-4P to ER-4S Adapter
Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Function
Cons: Cost
This is simply a great product. It allows you to turn your ER4p (or any efficient headphone) into a higher impedance set.
I don't regret buying the adaptor; I only wish it was a bit cheaper.

Very Nice Addition

Pros: Significantly opens up sound
Cons: Expensive
This cable does make a difference in clarity and I'm glad I got it. If it were $30 bucks instead of $50 I would have given it 5 stars.

Thought the 4p's were enough...but this an easy upgrade

Pros: allows the 'afterthought' upgrade to 4S standards
Cons: none
For $50, you can expand the 4P's to 4S's and get that great sound on all headphone-freindly devices. A no-brainer....

use P to S if you have a high quality amp

Pros: increases detail
Cons: a bit fussy to have yet another cable
If you used your Ety ER4P with a decent headphone amp, you should have this adapter. It's easier than recabling, cheap, and gives you the option of having what will sound like a second pair. You can leave it off if you plug directly into, let's say, an iPod or computer, but if you want the best sound, you insert this between your source and your Etys, and the difference is audible. It gives your music a bit more air, a little more refinement. I've had this for quite a while, always travel with it and a decent amp, and it fits into the Ety pouch that I use for the ER4P.
