Monster Beats by Dre Studio
Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Comfortable, Look awesome
Cons: lousy noise-canceling
I've been monkeying around with low-end skullcandies for a while, and these were like a gift from god after those. They get used every day at home, in the car, and at school, and I've had no problems with durability. They hold up fine when crammed in an overstuffed backpack, and that alone should vouch for the construction of these. While I'm sure you could shop around and find better headphones for a similar price (Klipsch, Sennheiser, AKG, etc.), none of those brands are as recognizable as these. Whether or not that's a good thing is up to you. These headphones certianly make a statement, and not everybody's comfortable with that. If that's what you're going for, then these headphones are tough to beat.
As for sound quality: the only thing I have to compare them to are my dad's Bose headphones (not sure of the model- sorry. They're the noise-canceling over-ear ones, though- same as these), and while the Bose are good, these are great. The response is good at nearly every frequency, although it seems like parts of the bass range respond better than others. This is only a slight complaint, though, as it's not very noticeable. One thing that frustrates me, though, is the noise canceling. While it's a nice thing to have, it could deifnitely be better. The Bose have a far better noise-canceling capability than these. Also, you have to turn the noise-canceling on for the headphones to work. This can be frustrating, especially if I'm using them in school. Some headphones are able to still operate with the noise canceling off, and I get the sense that this would be a useful feature. Other than that, though, no complaints. These are a great set of cans, and I'd happily recommend them to potential purchasers. In fact, I already have.

Skullcandy 50/50 Micd
Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Impressive Sound Quality for the Price, Durable, Look Awesome
Cons: Kinda uncomfortable after a while, a little too much bass
I bought a pair of these to replace the standard apple headphones. I thank myself for that decision everytime I use these. They're a great improvement over those, and they definitely stand out, even though they're earbuds. The bass is a little much, but it can be great fun for some songs. Durability-wise, these are great. I use them while skiing, and I can say from experience that they can withstand 40+mph collisions with icce and hardpack snow, and temperatures below -25 degrees fahrenheit. There have been times when I'll only ski with one in and realize after about 5 hours that one of the earbuds is packed tight with snow. I simply clean it out and keep going, or I just let it melt. No issues there. These can withstand some abuse. My one regret is that they aren't very comfortable. The metal band around the edge of the earbud looks awesome, especially on my pair (black with chrome!), but it can be irritating having that rub against your ear. This only becomes a problem after 4+ hours of continuous use, though. Basically: while they have their flaws, they're minor ones, and these are a great pair of headphones to consider if you're just starting to look at something other than standard apple headphones. These are worth the $50, no doubt.

Koss Porta Pro
Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Great sound, practical, collapsible, open design
Cons: Some people don't like the look, but that's their problem
These are a fantastic pair of headphones. They are comfortable, they have great sound for the price, they can fold up to an absolutely tiny size, they look awesome, and they can fit easily under a hat/helmet. I use these skiing, and they fit under my helmet no problem. The sound is perfectly balanced, and the bass isn't overpowering like it is on a lot of headphones. I'm so glad I bought these. One of the best purchase decisions I've ever made.
