While its little brother, Grado SR60e, sounds awesome without a headphone amp, it doesn't really massively improve with one. The Grado SR80e is a bit different; not quite sonically fulfilled without a headphone amp, it snaps into sharp focus with a good head-amp added to the equation. Present and impactful with Grado's signature 'up-front' lively presentation, these classic cans remain an excellent entry into great high-end headphone listening.

What's In The Box:
If you would like to take a nice step-up in Grado sound quality, try the SR80e. They have very good dynamics with quite punchy bass response and clean-sounding mids & highs, so expect lots of detail across all frequency ranges. Like some small-sized earpad-type (on-ear) headphones, these can be a bit uncomfortable for a few listeners due to the earpad texture, but are usually fine for most wearers if you -- very! -- gently bend the headband slightly to better conform to the top of the head. That move usually will help to take some pressure directly off the earlobes. The SR 80 e can typically be very handsomely driven by most portable players like iPods, iPads, MP3 players, or laptop/PCs. Awesome stuff from John Grado and his family-run headphone team.
The Grado SR-80e now utilize the 'soft' style of mesh-covered earpad that completely covers the earlobe -- NOT the donut-type bowl 'Large' earpad variety found in earlier SR80 editions (which has the cut-out center in the middle). All Grado earpad types are interchangeable with all Grado Labs SR/RS/PS series headphones. The SR80e maintain the standard Grado Labs flexible vinyl-covered headband design and basic metal height adjusters that connect the earcups to the headband, thus allowing up and down adjustment plus 360 degree rotation. This feature becomes handy for laying the headphones down flat for storage or transit. 1-year manufacturer's warranty is serviced free exclusively by Grado Labs located in Brooklyn, NY USA only with your HeadRoom 'authorized dealer' purchase receipt.
