The Home Digital to Analog converter

The Home DAC

The HeadRoom Home DAC option starts to become a very seriously impressive digital-to-analog converter: not only does it use the flagship Cirrus Logic CS4398 DAC, it also uses the hyper-spendy but oh-so-sweet-sounding Burr-Brown OPA627 op-amps in constant-current "Class-A” bias as output stage devices. The result is the kind of fully transparent and liquid audio clarity usually found in multi-thousand dollar upscale CD players but at a mere fraction of their cost.

To go along with the aforementioned "Class-A” biased OPA627s, only metal thin-film resistors and high-end polyphenylenesulfide (poly film) capacitors are used within the audio circuits. Three low-noise, ultra-low dropout power supply regulators isolate the various digital, analog, and mixed signal circuits. This Home DAC option is also available in a true balanced version for the HeadRoom Balanced Desktop Amp with two complete converter sections, one for the normal and one for the inverted audio signal. Expect truly outstanding reference-grade sound quality from any digital-output audio source with this excellent and reasonably priced HeadRoom installation.
