Most people know 'earbuds' as the cheap-o earphones you get free with a portable audio player device. Earbuds consist of two individual small plastic earpiece housings that insert in the concha ridge of the outer ears. There are few earbuds that manage to sound really good, and they typically will not provide much of a noise-blocking seal from ambient sounds like an ear canal headphone can do very capably. Sadly, many listeners' initial experience with the whole concept of "Headphone Listening" is with these lowly earbud designs. The sound quality can easily be so much better for not much more cash, folks! Nevertheless, we've found some OK-to-excellent earbud models to mention below.
