If you own certain beyerdynamic or AKG headphone models (listed below) HeadRoom offers after-market in-house cable upgrades. Please review this webpage, then call our HeadRoom Sales Dept at 800.828.8184 or send an email to the Sales Department to ensure you are choosing the best options for your specific headphone listening needs. Since there are absolutely NO RETURNS on our HeadRoom headphone cable upgrades, please contact us prior to mailing in your headphones to ensure you're choosing the right re-cabling option for you!
Amazingly, there exists substantial room for audio detail resolution improvement by custom re-cabling your reference headphones. HeadRoom uses Cardas Audio 'Fat-Pipe' headphone cabling exclusively! Headphones currently eligible for HeadRoom upgrade:
AKG K701, AKG K601, beyerdynamic DT770, DT880, DT990 (beyer "Pro" models only).
This list is all-inclusive, so if your headphones aren't mentioned, then unfortunately we aren't able to currently recable them here at HeadRoom. Please call for further details.
Sennheiser Owners: Please note that if you own a pair of Sennheiser HD580, HD600, or HD650, you can simply purchase an aftermarket Cardas Audio upgraded headphone cable and change it yourself thanks to Sennheiser's user-friendly, 'quick-detach' headphone cord design.
Grado Owners: If you own Grado headphones, you can send them directly to Grado Labs for balanced recabling (the cables are simply altered for balanced-drive XLR terminations, they are not upgraded cords and therefore 'single-ended' cable upgrades are not available from Grado Labs). Please call us for additional details.

Custom cord lengths are available upon request. Pricing is determined by starting with the closest standard length pricing, then add $20 per foot. So for example, if you would like a 12 foot cable w/ 1/4" headphone jack, your price would be $362; $322 is the standard 10' ft. price, plus $20 per additional foot.

HeadRoom Headphone Upgrade Policies & Conditions
All headphone re-cable jobs are exclusively built-to-order. Our prices listed above all include a $100usd HeadRoom special-order/labor fee.
-- We will test your headphones upon receiving them to ensure they are working properly. If they are found to not be in perfect working order, we will NOT perform the cord upgrade. Instead, we will send the headphones back to you with a brief description of the problem we encountered. Regrettably, we are NOT able to repair any headphone issues whatsoever at HeadRoom so please make sure your headphones are working perfectly and are in 'like-new' condition before mailing them to us.
-- Warranties: The upgraded cable features a Lifetime HeadRoom Warranty on the cable as well as the installation work. The manufacturer's own headphone warranty is not affected by having your headphones upgraded (i.e., the headphone warranty starts from the actual purchase date of the headphones).
-- You do NOT need to have purchased your headphones from HeadRoom to be eligible for our in-house recabling program!
-- Return shipping for having your headphones sent back to you is a minimum of $10 anywhere in the continental USA. International shipping will be significantly more, contact us for a quote.
-- Allow 2-3 weeks for us to perform the headphone upgrade and ship the item back to you. (Custom lengths are 'special order' only & may take a week longer than standard lengths.)
-- Headphone re-cable jobs are permanent NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES, so again, please call us first to make sure we're all on the same page. PLEASE, NO RETURNS on your customized HeadRoom re-cabled headphones. Once again, call our HeadRoom Sales Dept to ensure you are making the right decision about re-cabling your beloved headphones!
