Though the treble response of the DT440 is perhaps a bit uneven-sounding with some music sources, the overall audio presentation is still reasonably clear, smooth and detailed for a headphone at this mid-level price range. The upper highs may be just a bit bright for some listeners. The bottom-end response is decent and punchy although somewhat lean if you are of the jammin' heavy-bass persuasion. These are very efficient full-size headphones and are easily driven by portable players without requiring a dedicated headphone amplifier. Nice price for a good-sounding full-size headphone to pump up your iPod/Mp3/Discman player.

The DT440 is a fairly large pair of headphones with a perfectly round ear pad design that is covered with a cozy-feeling velour-type material for wearing comfort. The single-sided headphone cable is attached to the left ear piece and is terminated to a 1/8" inch (3.5mm) mini-plug; a full-size screw-on 1/4" inch adaptor is also handily provided in the box. The DT440s earcups swivel easily and allow the headphones to lay flat or fold up into the headband to conserve space for packing, traveling or storage. A 2 year manufacturer's product warranty remains standard with all beyerdynamic headphones.
