beyerdynamic DT 660

Like it’s more expensive big brother (the DT860) the beyerdynamic DT660 is a forward-presentation, lively-sounding and very efficient pair of full-sized headphones that work well directly out of a portable player without the need for an amplifier. Unlike the better cans, however, the DT660 is a little too uneven and strident for us to feel confident with a buy recommendation. We suggest going up to the DT860 if you are looking for a more refined sound, or down to the DT440 if your looking for a good full sized headphone for use with portables.

The DT660 is a large pair of headphones with a perfectly round ear pad that is covered with a cozy velour material. The cable is attached to the left ear piece and is terminated with a 1/8 inch mini-plug; a screw on ¼ inch adaptor is also provided. The earpieces swivel freely and can allow the headphones to lay flat or fold up into the headband to conserve space for packing. A 2 year manufacturer's product warranty remains standard with all beyerdynamic headphones.
