Complete top-shelf wireless headphone system perfect for both high-fidelity music and TV or movie watching, the Sennheiser RS 180 employs newest KLEER wireless transmission schemes to deliver extremely clear noise-free audio transmission sans cords. An automatic 'sound compression' feature maximizes speech detail and TV dialogue clarity and also ensures those annoyingly loud commercials don't come blasting through the heaphones by automatically leveling the program volume. Excellent choice for folks wanting to hear film and TV clearly without wires and/or be able to walk around at the same time. Open-back HDR-180 headphone design. Please note that most newer TVs may only offer digital audio output so be sure to check out the Fiio D03K in the recommended accessories below if your TV is equipped with optical or coaxial audio outputs. If you're not sure what connections your TV has, just give us a call so we can make sure you get everything you need on the first try.
What We Think:
Wonderful top-of-the-line wireless headphone that's great for both high fidelity music listening and TV or movie watching, the Sennheiser RS 180 uses proprietary KLEER wireless scheme to provide very high quality and noise-free audio transmission without cables from just about any audio source. Naturally, the job is only half-done with a seamless wireless link so Sennheiser Electronics finishes it up with very clear sound quality performance and detail resolution from these comfortable, large headphones. The RS 180 have an open earcup construction designed to get the very best audio reproduction possible; the open-back earcup design is vented meaning you can still hear what's going around you provided you're not turned up too loud. Since the RS 180 is 100% open-back, when watching TV or movies remember to turn off your TV speakers to avoid 'latency', a slightly bothersome (to some) audio phenomenon in which the headphones are working correctly, but you're hearing the audio a micro-second behind the TV's own audio. Still, the RS 180 'no cords' system is amongst the best wireless headphones in the industry and an easy HeadRoom recommendation for quality wireless seekers.
The included RS 180 slim-profile base station looks neat and doubles as the headphone charging bay. It provides a proprietary Auto-Leveling Control [ALC] feature engineered by Sennheiser that serves to keep audio at a similar dynamic volume levels for all program material -- a VERY handy feature for controlling those dang booming commercials screeching between your favorite shows. This Sennheiser auto-compression technology also helps with speech intelligibility and clarity of dialogue as well. Also features balance control for right/left volume adjustment. The open back design puts you in the action by delivering the most natural sounding private wireless audio experience possible. It even includes a balance control for the ultimate in listening experience customization. The RS 180 luxurious velour earpads and headband cushions provide exceptional comfort for hours on end. The system will transmit up to an astounding 320 feet on 2.4-2.8gHz, (smartly 'auto-selecting' the transmission channel for best sound quality) and running for about 24 hours on each full charge. A 2 year free manufacturer's warranty remains standard on Sennheiser headphones only when purchased from true 'authorized dealers' -- like us here at HeadRoom since 1992!
