Applications:
We have it hand it to long-time headphone manufacturer Koss for engineering the completely cutting-edge KDE 250 design and its unique fit ergonomics. Featuring the world's first dual-driver earbud array with adjustable 'toe-in' angling of the earpieces, the Koss KDE 250 has a personalized fit determined via series of differently sized curved rods that provide both earpiece support and a stable wearing experience on any sized head or ears. A built-in knurled knob adjusts the rods up & down and helps dial in the KDE 250 custom fit. A smaller 'direct-fire' driver element nestles into the ear for clear highs while a larger element driver sits at a 90 degree angle providing low-end response. The trouble may come for folks with sensitive ears who feel the aluminum rod system can be downright weird-feeling or even uncomfortable as you properly position the earpieces into the ears. If you are fortunate enough to own the correct head & ears geometry to obtain a correct fit of the earpieces within the outer part of the ear canal, the sound can be surprisingly full and rich with impressive musical detail and clean delineation of all present recording textures. However, most of our HeadRoom testers found the overall KDE 250 avant-garde adjustability fastidious and not actually precise enough to obtain proper sound and a comfortable wear. Strike one for form over function.
3 pairs of curved aluminum fit rods are included in the Koss KDE 250 packaging in small / medium / large sizing. The aluminum on gloss black looks is cooly striking and stands out in a crowd, so it may not be the best choice for listeners trying to remain inconspicuous. For active exercise users, once you have found the best of the three rods to fit your particular ear geometry and adjusted for height & yaw via the knurled knobs, the KDE 250 fit is actually pretty stable -- if perhaps not the most comfortable headphone ever. An awesome Koss free limited lifetime warranty is included with your HeadRoom '100% authorized Koss dealer' receipt.
