The Tektron-Italia tube headphone amp was first exhibited by HeadRoom at Rocky Mountain Audio Festival [RMAF] 2011 and generated grins by the roomful from analog audio mavens entranced by the drop-dead gorgeous sound and eye-popping looks. Via reference audiophile headphones typically considered analytical or 'forward' sounding like the Sennheiser HD800, the Beyerdynamic T1 Tesla or Grado PS1000, the Tektron OTL ["Output Transformer-Less"] design presented true engagement of musical detail along with that attractively round timbre quintessentially favored by tube fans. With juicier cans like the Sennheiser HD650, Audez'e LCD-2/LCD-3 or the AKG K701/ K702,  the synergy exploded into a veritable cornucopia of deep-hued tonal colors, accurate textural transparency, and cleanly musical PRAT (Pacing, Rhythm, And Timing). The Tektron amp's beautifully aged & lacquered olive wood chassis encases a killer OTL topology delivering oodles of clean power and superbly low SNR / impedance specs. For 'tube rollers' and seekers of different tonal flavorings, tube swapping will typically give slightly differing signatures for listeners needing either a hint more neutrality or a touch more warmth in their overall musical presentation. Nifty independent left/right volume controls on the Tektron lovely front panel allow for correction of minor headphone driver imbalances, audio source balance issues, or for easy compensation of hearing loss in one ear, a nice (rare!) plus in any headphone amp. An unreal collaboration of seamless form and function, the Tektron olive wood construction completely eliminates any potential for amplifier housing resonances or vibration artifacts finding their way into the tube sets and impacting the sound. For those of us into this kind of thing, the Tektron amplifier chassis itself is also made of book-matched, perfectly aged Italian olive wood taken from the exact same tree as the stand for the very ultimate in metaphysical holistic audio "synergy". In all seriousness, this is really a one-of-a-kind product suitable for the most discerning golden-eared audiophiles and crazily starry-eyed headphone lovers.
