The full-size earcups remain from the more expensive M models along with large-aperture 40mm speaker driver arrays that capably deliver big bass without mush, clarity without sharpness and the kind of precise musical detail retrieval that used to be the exclusive domain of upscale over-$100 headphones. The smooth signature sound that's come to be associated with Audio Technica headphones also remains with the M10 in order to allow long listening hours without premature ear fatigue setting in. A great full-size headphone that's made even more so by the value-loaded price. Excellent "starter audiophile" can that's also at home in burgeoning recording studio and pro audio environments.
The ATH-M10 offers large, round full-size earcups that are plushly padded for maximum comfort. The simple construction design is durably built and the sliding headband will easily adjust to heads of all dimensions, so listeners will be able to enjoy the M10's stable, secure fit and no fear of the headphones slipping down at the least opportune moment. The extra-long 10ft cord easily reaches for long runs and is very lightweight for minimized weight drag. Its terminated to a 3.5mm (1/8") plug and 1/4" stereo plug adapter is provided in the box. Pros: Over the ear, Easy to adjust, comfortable, decent isolation
Cons: Somewhat tinny, Lack and middle definition, bass is barely present.
I have listened to a fairly large range of cans and currently own Beyerdynamic DT 880s, these, and Sennheiser HD 202s.
I was excited to listen to these, primarily because I wanted a comfortable pair of cheap closed headphones for public listening. I used a gift card to purchase these and when they arrived I auditioned a number of tracks, electronic, acoustic, varying volumes and genres. They are extremely tinny sounding, weak in the mid, and a weird, unbalanced bass. I am amping them correctly and have tried a number of amps to see if they had any effect. To no avail.
If I would have paid for these, I would be much more flustered, but for the time being I am fairly neutral. Its a decent price for comfortable pair of headphones, but if I am at home listening I doubt I will be using these.
