HeadRoom was the first to premiere the top-of-the-line Grado Labs GR10 earphones at the 2010 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest [RMAF] in Denver and we -- along with lucky festival attendees -- absolutely loved what we heard: an extended, intensely detailed top-end response underpinned by wonderfully punchy bass that positively defines the classic Grado 'signature sound' and punchy musical involvement. Expect slightly more midrange presence than in the less pricey Grado in-ear models, a wonderful thing for audiophile listeners seeking smooth definition and full musical body for jazz vocals, singer/songwriter music and well-produced modern & classic rock. As typical for Grado, the bass response is engagingly warm and cleanly textural, but without a trace of bloat or 'one-note' boom. The musical clarity and timbral definition of the GR10 should also please classical and symphonic aficionados given its airy soundstage depth -- a great feat for any in-ear monitor -- that allows instruments to 'float' correctly in the room space image. The consistent tonal balance and elegant rhythmic pace of the GR10 sounds ideal for reference-grade or master recordings and provides pristine access into the previously obscured nooks & crannies of your most well-worn favorites, potentially transforming your portable listening into a newly revelatory acoustic experience.
The Grado GR10 come in a nifty mellow green color that makes them nicely stand out from the other Grado Labs earphones. The packaging contains three sizes of clear silicon eartip sleeves in S/M /L sizing; try them all for the most secure in-ear fit -- and best resulting sound quality. As with the other Grado in-ears, the earpiece fit is not overly invasive or deeply seated into the ear canal, meaning the GR10 remains a great candidate for newcomers to in-ear headphones or for serious audio lovers who demand long-wearing comfort and top acoustic performance from their 'on-the-go' in-ears. The GR10's highly efficient 32 Ohm impedance ensures robust performance direct from your portable player without a headphone amp required. Total cord length is 51 inches and the high-quality cable construction is a pure OFC design with minimal cord microphonics or annoying cable contact noise issues. A raised dot on the left earphone provides tactile indication of channel allowing the headphones to be worn correctly even in the dark -- now there's a handy feature! The 1-year manufacturer's warranty is provided directly by Grado Labs located in Brooklyn USA.

Pros: Clarity, transparency, comfort
Cons: Hissy on lower-quality sources
After a couple of months of listening time, I've found myself more and more abandoning my full-size closed headphones at home in favor of the GR10s - something I've never done with IEMs before. They are really outstanding, with great clarity, detail and transparency. They have the true Grado sound signature, with brilliant, sparkling treble and lovely mids. The sound is on the bright side of neutral while still feeling very balanced and natural to my ears.
The one caution I would give is that they are very sensitive to a poor quality source. They sound fine on my Cowon S9 and iRiver H140 when I'm going portable, but at home, my source (which is decent but not audiophile quality) hisses quite a bit. I think they'd be fine on any decent quality portable source, but beware of sources like computer sound cards.
