Applications:

The Monster Beats Pro are the most expensive headphones in Monster's line-up and, once you pick them up, the first you'll likely notice is the additional cash buys a lot of extra heft and beefiness in the design when compared to the less expensive Beats by Dre Studio model. Thickly machined metal headband structure ensure no cracking, squeaking or headband-to-earcup assembly issue regardless of how rough or carelessly you typically treat your headphones. The substantial build quality is the best we've seen from Monster and is sure to please hard-working DJs and audio pros needing their work cans to last the test of time and serious daily use in heavy-duty conditions. On the down side, the Beats Pro are a bit heavy with a secure headband clamping force -- which may be just the ticket if dancing behind the decks is your prefered modus operandi when clubbing. The deep-well, full-size (circumaural) Beats Pro earpads completely encircle and envelop the earlobes delivering average-to-good isolation ability and the Beats Pro real leather cushions will typically rest on the outer part of the earlobes on most wearers. Sonically, the bass is pleasingly plump and textural with a mid/low-end accentuation remaining controlled sans roiling bloat. Although perhaps a bit inarticulate in spots, bass response nevertheless remains musical with extension into the lowest octaves being quite good for a 'DJ'-category headphone. Midranges and highs soar cleanly without stridency or overt grain, although we detect a slight roll-off at the uppermost treble frequencies. The Monster Beats Pro are a recommended choice for DJs wanting strong, powerful headphones ready for intensive work behind the boards or for personal audio fiends wanting the best Monster has to offer.

One nice plus for working DJs using the Monster Beats Pro headphones is the ability to employ the detachable hp cable from either the left or right earcup as needed. The provided Monster headphone cord is a straight/coiled mix and both earcups can be easily rotated fully away for one-ear DJ mixing or cueing. The Beats Pro sport good efficiency ratings meaning you'll be able to plug these cans into any club deck or turntable set-up and get intelligible, clear volume from the headphones without needing a dedicated headphone amp.

Eh... I heard better.
Posted by Dan on 2012-02-27

Recommend Product: No
Pros: Build Quality, Bass, Design... that's it.
Cons: Too much bass, lack of treble, over priced.

Many people at school have been showing these things off and was getting highly annoyed so I decided to buy them. When they arrived, I was impressed with the design and build quality. There is no way your going to bust'em physically. Their titanium built, so yeah. I'm a Sennheiser customer and have to say that the Dr. Dre Beats do not impress me. Sennheiser headphones are far more superior sound quality wise. The Beats seem to have over powering bass, which irritates my head after 2 hours of use listening to rap music. The bass sometimes seems a bit too much when listening to rap, you sometimes can not hear what the rapper is saying, and these somewhat equalize with an equalizer. These are no different than what I expect as I do expect from Bose. Bose and Beats are good marketers and the marketing is costly, meaning boost of price. If you are a person who listens to nothing but dubstep or something, these are for you. These are not made for rock'n roll type music and diffidently not made for classical. You want a good pair of cans, Sennheisers HD600 for around $200 or $300. Cheaper and better quality wise than these Beats.

The Best I Ever Had So Far
Posted by K from Indonesia on 2012-02-23

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: High Durability, Cool Design and Color, Extreme Bass
Cons: Overpriced, Muffled Mid Range

The first Beats I ever had.

The first time I opened the box, what I see was the most beautiful white colored headphone.
The design is just cool, with a hard metal body that simply give you such a safe guarantee feeling.

I try to play some R&B track to test the bass, and what I found is a really incredible bass punch striking into my head.
Honestly, this is the most powerful bass I ever heard from a headphone.
I've ever try to listen to Senn HD 25-1 II, it has a very good details but I was disappointed with it's less powerful bass.
Most of my favorite track are hiphop, techno, rap, R&B and metal core, so I need a gear with the ability to produce a powerful bass sound and a good details.

Unfortunately, this cans has some fatal weakness.
When you play a track with a high volume, sometimes you could hear that the high and mid is a little bit muffled.
I have to adjust the equalizer to reach the optimal portion of bass, mid and high.
But in the end, this cans is only for the bass lover who doesn't really care about the details clarity.
Yes, you won't get enough clarity from this cans, but you'll get a monstrous bass punching into your ears with a pretty good details.

The ear plush is comfortable, but the metal construction made this cans a little bit heavy and might cause a fatigue to your neck for a prolonged use.
Overall, this is the most suitable option for the bass lover who seeks for cans with a powerful bass and good details.
The expensive price may be the biggest minus value for this cans, but you'll get the most durable headphone and a cool design for the bucks you've paid.

Only pair of cans from Monster I would recommend
Posted by HeadFiGuy from Wi on 2011-11-03

Recommend Product: Yes
Pros: Build quality, detachable cord, 'fun' sound
Cons: Not very accurate, price

Product: Monster Beats Pro (Black)
Length of ownership: about a year

Sources used in testing:
-Ipod Classic (playing Apple Lossless format)
-Macbook Pro Itunes (running Channel D Pure Music software
-Headroom Ultra Desktop Amp
-Cypher Labs Algorithm solo -> ALO RX MKII portable setup

I have never been a fan of Monster's audio products for as long as I can remember. I have gone through every set of cans they have offered and this was the only one that I actually kept. The strong build quality takes away the old headband cracking problem and by removing the built in amp (referring to the Studios), the sound quality has increased. The ear pads are large and deep but still seem to rest a bit on my ear which after 2+ hours, tends to cause discomfort.

The sound is very punchy with an overall fun tone. The pros, to me, are categorized as a 'dark' sounding headphone where the mids are still well defined. Highs are there but seem to be lacking in some tracks. These are an ideal DJ headphone. I love these for DJing since they can actually reproduce the level of bass that would be coming out of my speakers to the crowd. Running these through a good amp with a good source seem to lighten up the tone a bit by tightening the overall sound.

If you are in the market for a pair of Monster Bears don't bother with any ones but these,
