The Edition 8 Limited bass response remains tight and authoritative and maybe a tiny bit overemphasized, but that often can be a highly pleasureable thing on headphones when tastefully done and properly executed as it is here. The overall presentation is extremely coherent throughout the audio spectrum; midranges stay timbrally even and seamless with a gently lush tonality. The transition to the highs is likewise seamless and without grain or edginess, and slightly laid-back. It's a sound that is both faithful to the recording and completely musically enveloping --  actually a very hard combination to achieve! The Edition 8 Limited has patented 'tri-bass-tube' 40mm titanium-plated drivers which are exquisitely tuned at the Ultrasone factory in Germany and individually computer-matched to perfect tolerance for each and every set of headphones. A terrific audiophile master-level can for contemporary music of all types, delivering impact without glare, detail without harshness, and big bass without bloat. An awesome mobile music experience.

The German hand-built quality of these extremely exclusive headphones is just superb with stringent attention to detail like almost no other headphone on the market. Perfectly machined, rare-mined Ruthenium-plated hard parts with chocolate-colored glove-soft leather headband and earpad covers made from soft-cured Ethiopian sheepskin provide what may be one of the most distinctive looks and wearing experiences available in headphone-land. The Edition 8 Limited headband fit is secure, but perhaps a tad tight and the earcups cozy for big-noggin owners. Those with a very large head or ears may want to shy away unless you're okay with a secure fit. The big advantage of the Edition 8 Limited slim-profile fit and deep-well earcups remains its truly excellent isolation ability, perfect for supreme listening privacy without worrying about dreaded headphone 'leakage' disturbing your cubicle neighbor or airline seat mate. The Edition 8 Limited headphone cord extends roughly 3.5 feet [1.2 meters] and is somewhat shorter than we'd ideally like, but the cans do come with a perfectly adequate 4-meter Ultrasone headphone extension cord that will give you some room to roam if needed. A non-detachable Edition 8 Limited headphone cable terminates to a 'mini' 3.5mm (1/8") plug and a 1/4" full-size snap-on stereo adapter is provided. A fine-grained Madras goatskin travel/storage bag is also included with the Edition 8 Limited, which contains room for the headphones along with a separate pocket for the extension cord. The strong 2-year Ultrasone headphone warranty is serviced worldwide exclusively by the manufacturer. Remember to keep the Edition 8 Limited receipt showing purchase via an authorized dealer -- like HeadRoom! -- in order to maintain your fully intact Ultrasone warranty coverage.

NOTE: The exact opposite of standard mass-produced 'consumer' headphones, the Ultrasone Edition 8 Limited are exclusively hand-made in Germany and are individually serial-numbered with only 888 units available to be sold worlwide. Thus, the Edition 8 Limited are truly limited. (The previous Ultrasone Edition 9 and Edition 7 models quickly sold-out and are now scarce collector's items).
