Headphone News: Headphones for your Eyeballs.

photo_mobility18_02Our gadget-crazy Japanese friends are at it again: NTT is developing headphones that sense eye position in order to create hands-free control of ... well any number of things. "Controlling the operation of remote devices with the flick of an eye may sound like science fiction, but it's all in a day's work for Dr. Masaaki Fukumoto, Executive Research Engineer at NTT DOCOMO's Frontier Technology Research Group, where ongoing research promises to revolutionize the way we interact with technologies to make our daily lives more convenient and enjoyable." Certainly such a technology would be hugely beneficial to paraplegics and those who have lost the use of their arms (what a wonderful thing), but I shudder to think of bluetooth headset implementations and people driving while rolling their eyes to adjust the volume of their iPod. 3329581857_91daec6bfe One wonders how many gizmos the average person will own in the future ... and whether we're doomed to drown in wall warts.
