The tone of the RS 175 is very clear so speech and dialogue becomes audible even for those with mild to moderate hearing loss. There is a Bass Boost feature that provides thump as well as a simulated Surround Sound feature for enhancing film sound effects. However, we typically recommend leaving both features off if you are just wanting maximized speech and dialogue clarity only.
Keep in mind some new flat screen TVs may only have a Digital/Optical audio output. The Sennheiser RS 175 system is the perfect solution for high-quality wireless headphone listening via Digital output from your TV. The extra-long 300 ft (approx) transmission capabilities of the RS-175 may also make it more suitable for certain homes versus the RS-165 model which has a significantly shorter 100ft range.
The closed-back construction of the RS 175 earcups provides good noise isolation so the sound from the headphones does not 'leak' out into the room. It also isolates the headphone listener from the TV speakers or other ambient environmental noises, allowing better focus on the audio detail in the headphones without distraction.
The Sennheiser RS175 headphones are quite lightweight and remarkably comfortable. The large sealed-back oval earcups typically fit completely around the ears on most wearers. And like the other Sennheiser 'RS' wireless models, the transmission base doubles as a charging stand for the headphones.
We think the solid construction, strong transmission range and impressive sound quality of the Sennheiser RS175 system is top-notch for wireless TV headphones. It's why the RS-175 perennially rates among our Headphone.com staff's most highly recommended products in this entire category.
