Made with beautiful Cocobolo wood (oooh, fancy!) - an excellent tropical tonewood from Central America frequently used in high-end musical instrument manufacturing - the new Grado GH-2 headphone is simply gorgeous to look at. Stronger and denser than Brazilian Rosewood, Grado specifically selected this wood for its unique molecular density, highly musical tone and deep cosmetic luster.
Per Grado Labs engineers, the dynamic drivers employed in the open-back Grado GH2 model are designed from scratch for this new headphone and have been specifically tuned to partner harmoniously with the rich Cocobolo wood timbre. The GH 2 tonality will nicely benefit from the sweetly laid-back, clearly intelligible and smooth tonal presentation afforded by this uniformly resonant tonewood.
The headphone cable is also expected to be significantly revised for the GH2 with improved flexibility and performance. The Grado GH2 cord is terminated to a 3.5mm 'mini' plug with a full-size 1/4" stereo plug adapter included in the package.
If prior history is any indication, the original Grado GH1 headphones sold out very quickly and are now considered a universally beloved - and intensely sought-after - classic Grado Labs headphone. We fully expect history to repeat itself with the new Grado GH2 Cocobolo wood edition.
