Expressly designed for both portable audiophile listening and studio reference work, not many headphones of this caliber are as amazingly efficient as the Audeze LCD-X. Even more impressively, the LCD-X basically delivers nearly all of the sound quality of the superlative Audeze LCD-3 model at a slightly lower price.
In addition to the great high-performance value, the fact that the Audeze LCD-X can effectively partner with a wide range of portable audio sources without demanding a headphone amp renders it uniquely attractive within this top tier of high-end audiophile headphones.
Even without a headphone amp along for the ride, the Audeze LCD-X exhibits a very cleanly potent and dynamic sound. However, we still hear an amp as adding an audibly deeper dimensionality and smoother extension while also fully maximizing the excellent detail resolution power and clarity of these superbly well-built planar magnetic cans.
In our Headphone.com review opinion, the Audeze LCD-X may possibly be the world's best-sounding, most efficiently engineered headphone. It's actually become one of our in-house staples when our staff goes out to do audio production or studio tracking work. We think any discerning music lover or professional seeking precise punch and detailed accuracy from a variety of sources or playback systems should consider having their ears check it out.
The Audeze LCD-X features comfortable genuine lambskin leather headband / earpad cushions with cool polished black aluminum anodized earcups. Included is a tough 'military grade' travel case for extra-safe transit of your miraculous headphones.
The detachable headphone cable provided on the Audeze LCD-X is a rather underwhelming flat-wound 'Y'-type cord that extends about 8ft and terminates to a full size 1/4" stereo plug. Also included in the LCD X package is a 4-pin XLR headphone cable for use with balanced-drive amps.
