With the Atlas, Campfire Audio took their 8.5mm A.D.L.C (Amorphous Diamond-Like Carbon) driver that they used in the Vega, and upped the scale to 10mm. The result is an incredibly expansive sound that is definitely one of the largest soundstages in an in-ear headphone. The Atlas has some truly booming low-end on it that will make even the most hardcore of bass heads happy. But unlike with their Vega which is definitely a bassy headphone, Campfire has managed to produce clear mids and highs that resonate. Ken had us listen to Metallica's Unforgiven at CanJam SoCal 2018 and the level of detail blew our minds!
The Atlas like its little brother the Comet, is housed in Stainless Steel that is drop-forged, CNC machined and then hand polished so every headphone is eye-catchingly shiny. Inside the stainless-steel body are 3D modeled parts made in-house that allow Campfire the ultimate control over tuning and quality. The Atlas also comes with a brand new, pure silver MMXC cable that is tuned specifically for the Atlas. Campfire Audio has always included fantastic cables with their headphones and the cable included with the Atlas is no exception.
Ken Ball and the team at Campfire Audio in Portland, Oregon have once again designed and produced an in-ear headphone that we know will be taking the market by storm. These guys are on fire (no pun intended) with their ideas and product innovation and we are very fortunate that they decided to get into the headphone game!
