$ 99.99 $ 129.99
We're not sure exactly how FiiO does it, but they have effectively managed to squeeze almost all of the excellent performance of their very highly regarded FiiO X5-II Media Player into a significantly smaller package at a fabulously low price of $99.99. Holy smokes!
Regardless of how FiiO actually works their audio black magic, we think the X1-II is the best DAP currently available for the buck. There's no internal storage capacity, but almost any size micro SD card will work up to 256G. The X1-II has an improved second-gen amp circuitry that can not only drive most headphones quite well, but the device also provides a dedicated analog line output (accessible in 'settings') that is ideal for connecting out to other audio devices like a more powerful external headphone amp, if desired. The FiiO X1 II player will accept virtually any high-resolution music file or sample rate; check list below for details.
Also, most headphones with an Apple 3-button or single-button smartphone controls on the cord are still compatible with the FiiO X1-II player and the pause/play and track forward/back remote control features remain active. Unfortunately, the volume level does not work through the 3-button controller. As a minor drawback, the affordable FiiO X1-II can not act as a stand-alone USB DAC like its big brother FiiO X5 model. We guess you can't get it all for $100 bucks!
There's a dedicated USB feature which works for connecting the X1-II player in the car via a USB cord for charging purposes. For car audio applications, the FiiO X1-II player can connect into your vehicle speakers via an analog mini-to-mini cable. Of course, you can also send out the X1-II signal out to your compatible radio via wireless 4.0 Bluetooth if you prefer. The FiiO unit will also sync via USB with any PC / computer for straight-forward music file loading onto your SD cards or for any potential future FiiO firmware updates.
We could probably go on about how well the new FiiO X1-II player actually performs, its broad feature set and just how good it sounds, but at this surprisingly nice price, its pretty easy to just pick one up and give it a try for yourself.
The FiiO X1-II Media Player can indeed play all the music files stored on your iTunes library. Here's how to do it - It's super easy!
Once a micro SD card is installed in the player device, connect the FiiO player to your computer via USB. The FiiO player will be recognized as a USB External Hard Drive.
Then all you need to do is find your source folder for all your iTunes music (which is usually found in Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music on a PC) and simply drag or copy the desired folders over to the FiiO X1-II device. All artist and track information will then be recognized and displayed by the FiiO unit as your iTunes music plays perfectly. BAM!
