A long-time Headphone.com favorite in the Grado 'SR' series, the SR225e is one of the best-sounding open headphones available under $200.
The strong suit of the Grado SR-225e is the intensity of its lively sound and its eye-blinking musical impact -- which it delivers in spades. The bass response is tight and punchy while the mids/highs are significantly more refined and better controlled than in lower-tier models.
Noteworthy improvements to this SR225 'e' edition include a beefier, more durable headphone cord, re-configured element drivers and a more rigid driver housing. The SR 225 e works perfectly with all smartphones, tablets or laptop computers with no headphone required thanks to its high sensitivity specs and low 32 Ohm impedance rating.
Regarding the fit ergonomics, some feel the SR 225 e wearing comfort improves if you gently (gently!) bend the headband to better conform to the top of the head for a more personalized fit.
The SR225e have precisely factory-matched drivers to .05dB tolerances and voice coils made of Grado Labs' own ultra-high purity, long crystal, oxygen-free proprietary copper blend.
The SR225e has a simple flexible headband with metal height adjusters allowing for up & down size adjustment plus full 360 degree rotation. This feature is ideal for laying the headphones down flat for storage or traveling. The short straight connecting 'Y' cable measures only approximately 5.5ft and is not detachable. The cord is terminated to an 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo plug.
