In the Sennheiser HD 2.30, the 4.5 ft cable terminates to a straight 3.5mm stereo mini-plug and is user-detachable for easy cable replacement if needed. The HD 2.30 folding headphone frame is an extremely comfortable lightweight black molded plastic with beefy headband hinges and a sliding earcup mechanism providing wide fit adjustability. The flexible headband is lightly padded for surprisingly good wearing comfort for this type of headphone.
Despite the slim on-ear dimensions of the Sennheiser HD 2.30, most of our Headphone.com review team were able to obtain a stable, secure fit that allowed for excellent portable or active use without fear the cans would suddenly slip off the head during movement. Given the pleasantly non-squeezing force of the headband, we extend kudos to the Sennheiser materials lab for the superb execution of the HD 2.30 fit ergonomics.
Sonically, the Sennheiser HD 2.30 presentation is big and rich with a mild emphasis on the low-mids designed to warm up chilly low-bit online music from streaming services or YouTube. The clarity in the treble ranges is quite good for the headphone type and price and avoids sharp glare or harshness in favor of a slightly rolled-off, pleasantly rounded tone that still manages to convey clear detail and musical body without sounding muffled or restricted.
Although it has quite good voice intelligibility, we could maybe ask for more centered midranges where we hear recorded vocals tending to fall away into the mix with certain production styles. But as the song goes, you can't always get what you want - at least not for $89 bucks.
The Sennheiser HD 2.30 on-ear headphones are 22 Ohms / 115 dB sensitivity so they'll play loud & proud from any Apple or Android smartphone, tablet or other audio device. A storage pouch is included in the package.
The 'repair or replace' 2-year Sennheiser manufacturer's warranty is free when purchased from authorized dealers - like us here at Headphone.com since 1995!
