Sennheiser HD 25-1 II Headphone

A classic for over two decades in studio and pro audio circles, the HD25-1-II offers amazing Sennheiser sealed performance and delivers solid isolation with an engagingly full, highly musical tone. Also perfect for awesome portable listening, the unique headband design on this on-ear can is ideal for active users and 'splits' to create a hat-like brim for an extra-stable, very comfortable fit. Producers or DJs love the swiveling earpads that rotate for one-ear club mixing. Musical quality is terrific with punchy impact, clean bass response and great low-level detail resolution.

What We Think:
The hugely successful Sennheiser HD25-1-II headphone remains a professional-oriented, sealed 'on-ear' model offering excellent sound quality performance and unique headband versatility. The proprietary construction makes it a superb choice for active listeners wanting durable headphones that stay where they need to be no matter how intense the jams. The Sennheiser HD25-1-II is also a great candidate for music-loving commuters, airline travelers, gym rats, DJs, studio pros, beatmakers and producers working mixing desks, computer-based audio interfaces and analog/digital recording consoles -- or just block-rocking the iPod. The HD25-1-II sonic signature: Well-defined lows with a tightly damped sound in the bass; very even-sounding mids, nicely present and transparent; and smoothly extended uppermost highs. Now in the Sennheiser line-up for two decades, the HD25-1-1 remains one of Senn's top flagship 'sealed/closed' category headphone and its no wonder why; it's an extremely well-engineered, road-worthy headphone ideal for everything from audiophile iPod portable listening with 'lossless' files to acoustically demanding studio work to killer office cubicle 'phones and it capably delivers impressive sound quality anywhere you want your tunes.

Although it will highly benefit from a headphone amp when used with any portable audio player, the Sennheiser HD25-1-II should still deliver usable volume levels with most iPod, iPad, MP3 players and computers even without a dedicated head-amp -- although chances are it may sound a bit 'flat' and un-dynamic when used directly from some portable sources. The HD25-1-II is well-recommended mobile choice for those willing to invest a bit into pleasurable high-quality listening with a portable head-amp providing maximized detail resolution and great musical punch.

The most unique feature of the long-running Sennheiser HD25-1 model is the headband that surrounds the head almost like a hat brim. An effective and comfortably ergonomic headphone, you can easily wear the HD25-1 over a baseball hat or even our neat-o HeadRoom employee beanies with a propeller on top!  The HD25-1-II's unique 'split-headband' comes from studio applications where a secure fit is critical; it's amongst the most stable headphones we've worn during serious head-banging or while pulling sick disco-fever B-Boy dance moves around the office. The mid-sized 'supra-aural' (on-ear) earcups also swivel out of the way on the left ear so you can hear ambient sounds or perform fast-paced 'mono' DJ mixing with one ear. The band construction is a sturdy plastic composite material that feels well-built and durable. The earcups are padded with a supple leather-type material and offer respectable ambient noise attenuation.
