RESHAPING EXCELLENCE – THE SENNHEISER ORPHEUS LEGEND REBORN

In 1991 Sennheiser created the best headphones in the world. They called them Orpheus. Now, Sennheiser has done it again. Their new uncompromising statement of philosophy is called the Sennheiser HE 1. Expect otherworldly sound and timeless beauty, perfectly engineered. Equipped with unique features and state-of-the-art technology, these headphones will transform music from something you merely listen to into something you live in.

MEET THE SENNHEISER HE 1

You may have never seen such beauty in headphones. And that's just for starters. Watch the Sennheiser HE-1 gradually come to life with a touch, allowing a momentary pause to let the tubes of its amplifier reach optimum operating temperature. Then put them on your head and travel into a realm of pure sound. To secret places you’ve never been hidden deep in your music. Whether on vinyl, on CD or in high-resolution data files, the Sennheiser HE 1 takes you there. With an audio range from 8 Hz to more than 100 kHz, and the lowest distortion ever measured in any sound reproduction system: 0.01% THD at 1 kHz, 100 dB SPL.

HIGHLY PRECIOUS METALS

The relentless pursuit of perfection brings with it a complete uniqueness. Thus, the Sennheiser HE 1 is the first electrostatic headphone with a cool Class A MOS-FET high voltage amplifier integrated directly into the earcups. This eliminates the capacitive reactance of the cable and delivers an ultra-high impulse fidelity 200% more efficient than any other solution currently found in headphones. Tiny 2.4-micrometer platinum-vaporized diaphragms are employed in the HE 1 since that precise size was shown by Sennheiser’s audio research to deliver the most optimal sound reproduction ability. Outstanding electrical and acoustical performance is further ensured through gold-vaporized ceramic transducers with 99.99 % silver-plated OFC cables for optimal signal conductivity. To allow you to immerse yourself comfortably in the result of all this excellence are the Sennheiser HE 1 supple earcups which framed and precision-machined from solid lightweight aluminum. The earpads are hand-crafted using the finest leathers in the world and employ a new uber-soft, allergen-free velour/microfiber material devised especially for HE 1 headphones.

EVERYTHING BUT COMPROMISES

The advantages of tube amplifiers and transistor amplifiers— with the Sennheiser HE 1 you get them all. Thanks to a patent-pending circuit design with vacuum tubes connected to the spring-loaded, damped marble housing to prevent structure-borne noise and surrounded by high-quality quartz bulbs that protect against airborne noise, this state-of-the-art amplifier delivers ultra-high impulse fidelity at an ultra-low distortion level. For the digital to analog conversion, the amplifier can receive digital signals via optical and coaxial SPDIF inputs or via USB input. It also accepts high-resolution PCM and DSD data. The digital music data is converted to analog signals using the 8 internal DACs of the ESS SABRE ES9018. Four channels in parallel are used for each stereo side to enhance accuracy and essentially eliminate distortion and noise floor levels.

BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE

Sennheiser HE 1’s striking design truly marries form to function. The HE 1 amplifier sits on a housing crafted from unbreakable glass and one single solid block of Italian Carrara marble. This incredibly luxurious natural stone—the exact same type made famous by Michelangelo’s Renaissance sculptures—lends beauty but also prevents structure-borne vibration from impacting the vacuum tubes. To create a totally visually stunning design, the amplifier control dials are painstakingly crafted to the highest possible quality we can muster. Each dial is milled from a single solid piece of brass before being deep-plated with liquid chrome. The Sennheiser HE 1 / Orpheus headphone system is nothing short of pure musical perfection turned into a real-life object d'art
