Sennheiser PX 100

The Sennheiser PX100 is simply the perfect portable headphone to upgrade the so-called headphones or earbuds that originally came with your Mp3, iPod, DiscMan or other portable player device. An open-backed and highly efficient design, these small, lightweight headphones deliver amazingly crisp, punchy sound with a strong bass response even when used straight out of a portable audio source. The open-backed PX100 earcups provide no ambient noise-blocking, but allow the listener to remain aware of their surroundings -- important if listening around busy city traffic! And if coming up with a headphone that sounds slightly better than the previous winner in this category (the Koss PortaPro) wasn't quite enough, the PX100 is also a bit better looking, more durable, and has the nifty ability to fold up tiny like a pair of sunglasses. This might be the best "open" headphone for under $50 bucks, and a perfect choice for great listening on the go, at the gym, or directly from your laptop computer and/or iPod. The PX100 achieves a comfortable fit using a super-lightweight metal headband with two foam headband pads resting on either side of the top of your head. The small supra-aural earpads are made of a fairly soft mesh-type material. The headband folds at two sturdy hinge points located just outside the pads; the earpads swivel 90 degrees and tiny detents interlock the side band pieces to make a conveniently small package that, when folded, easily stores in your shirt pocket, bookbag or backpack. The headphone also comes with a protective hard-sided plastic carrying case that is nicely secure, but is rather awkward to deal with on a daily basis. The PX100's Y-cord attaches at each earpad, is about 4' feet long and terminates to an 1/8" (3.5mm) plug.
